The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 24-30, 2020.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 29

6:58 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Loose cows in the graveyard next to the equestrian farm. Long-horn cows were put back into the pen.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

July 30

7:37 p.m., High Street, Parkman. Niece is drunk and making accusations of sex abuse toward caller’s husband. She threw a cigarette at caller’s face. No injuries to anyone at house. Parties separated. Deputy spoke with caller who said her niece has been drinking and became enraged and said husband always flirts with her. This caused an argument. Deputy spoke with niece who said husband always flirts with her and she doesn’t like it. Niece advised she called her brother and his wife was on way to pick her up.

DRUGS

July 29

4:58 p.m., Jackson Drive, Burton. 13-year-old son and his cousin took acid. Mom had them at the ER this morning. She knows the person they got it from, but not the next in the chain. She wants to talk to a deputy. Drug usage involving juveniles that will be passed onto the narcotics detectives for further investigation.

EXTRA PATROL

July 28

3:11 p.m., Waterfowl Lane, Munson. Caller requesting extra patrol for tomorrow between 6-10 p.m. Caller is concerned because there are several people from Waterfowl going to the variance meeting during this time to oppose the proposal for the rehab house at the corner of Waterfowl and Ravenna. They would like extra patrol in case of any backlash from anyone supporting the project.

HARASSMENT

July 25

10:56 a.m., Clay Street, Montville. Female is being harassed on social media. No crime. Someone had posted things on Facebook calling the complainant a liar and threatening a civil action against her and another male regarding an MVA son was involved in. Advice given.

HAZMAT

July 30

6:37 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Caller has a creek that run through his backyard. The water is black with dead fish. Appears to be oil. Yesterday the water was clear.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

July 27

3:35 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. 12-year-old female begging to go to “juvie.” Mom is abusive but not today. She was just trying to read a book; it’s a princess book. Mom is in the house and is aware daughter called the police. Deputy advised. Responded to location. Mom and daughter arguing over house rules and reading too many books. Spoke to both parties and mom and daughter made up. Advice given.

NOISE PROBLEM

July 28

1:16 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Punderson campground sites are talking too loudly. ODNR unable to respond. Deputies sat in the area for several minutes and could not find any noise violations. Deputies stood in the area and could not hear music, but a could hear a female and male talking loudly. Deputies approached the tent and identified themselves. Male and female began talking to deputies through the tent. They became agitated and told deputies they were doing nothing wrong. Female then exited the tent naked and was told to put on clothes but refused. Male then exited tent. Both told if they continue to be loud they will be kicked out of park. Both appeared intoxicated and after several times understood the complaint. They were told to go to bed and deputies cleared.

ROAD RAGE

July 28

4:50 p.m., Juniper Drive, Hambden. Male in a van fighting with a female in SUV. Both vehicles pulled over. Female ran from her vehicle down toward end of Juniper. Caller saw them physically fighting and wrestling. She was yelling “give my keys back.” Caller unsure if two are related or if a road rage. Caller no longer sees male and female. Units advised hearing toward West Farmington. One arrest made for DV and DOC.

SUSPICIOUS

July 26

6:41 p.m., Stanfield Drive, Munson. Caller advised there are approximately 25 people squatting on his property, 20 feet from his garage. Advised they are in camo and hiding in “caves and trees.” There are multiple camps set up; one of the camps might have a rifle case by it. Male advised he has lived there for six months but only noticed the people today. His brother said he noticed them several days ago.

July 27

6:58 a.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. Someone came in his house and beat him up last night, but he does not know who it could have been. Report taken. Male too intoxicated to complete a statement and is refusing a squad.

THEFT

July 26

1:08 p.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Someone was staying at caller’s residence and now he is missing a saw, three nail guns, an antique scale and not sure what else. It was his girlfriend’s son. He sold all the tools. Deputy advised. Report taken.
