The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 31 through Aug. 6, 2020.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 31

1:40 p.m., Tewksbury Lane, Claridon. Bat in the house. Caller advised to open doors and windows. Deputies advised.

Aug. 3

2:20 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Neighbor’s dog came over this morning and jumped in caller’s brand new swimming pool, scratching the liner up. Dog is an ongoing issue in the neighborhood. Dog warden called and they advised caller file a report. Deputy told neighbor she has to keep her dog on her own property.

ASSAULT

Aug. 3

2:25 p.m., Route 44, Newbury. Route 44 a group of people are fighting. Caller said it is a road that goes next to the lake. Caller saw the male get punched in the face; unknown where he is now. Road rage incident that resulted in one of drivers attempting to fight the other involved. Only able to locate one of the parties. Unknown who other male was.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Aug. 5

9:39 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. IR requested. Spoke with caller from Michigan who said she was scammed by a woman who lives in Chardon Township. Caller bought children’s clothes from her Facebook and never received them. Report to follow.

DISORDERLY

Aug. 6

3:56 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Employee was trying to limit the number of customers in the store per the health department and told a customer he could not enter. Customer became upset and pushed the employee out of the way. Another employee intervened and all parties yelled at each other and the customer left without further incident. Caller just wants the male not to return. Attempts will be made to advise other party involved.

FIREWORKS

Aug. 3

4:51 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. “4th of July is over right? My neighbor is setting off M-100s!” Caller’s husband advised male is in the “Cleveland Mafia” and female caller started to cry because she is scared of the fireworks. Nobody was home at the residence. They had just left prior to deputy’s arrival. Deputy will call neighbor and advise them of the complaint.

FRAUD

Aug. 6

9:48 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. IR for fraud. Caller from New Mexico reporting she bought shoes from woman’s online store and never received the shoes but her money was taken. Report to follow.

10:08 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Additional caller from Conway, S.C., advised of $120 loss. Deputy advised. Additional caller from Temple, Texas, $68.48 loss. Deputy advised would contact them Monday.

NOISE PROBLEM

Aug. 1

10:01 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. A bunch of people, drinking, smoking weed and doing donuts. Approximately 50 people being loud in backyard of homeowner. Deputies advised homeowner of complaint and he agreed to end party.

SUSPICIOUS

July 31

10:28 a.m., Chipmunk Lane, Middlefield. At around midnight caller said she overheard the neighbor speaking to a male with a truck and enclosed trailer. She heard the male say, “You worry too much, I have them sedated.” Caller is concerned it is regarding human trafficking. She advised there has been a lot of traffic in and out of this location in the past few weeks. Deputy advised and spoke with caller, who said she was more than 50 feet away and could not hear the whole conversation. No other information provided. Party was advised to contact GCSO with any additional information.

Aug. 5

11:40 a.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Morning Star Friends Church, car is causing issues. Two young men, mid-20s trying to demand a free haircut. JFS is there for an event. Deputy advised. Workman brothers trying to instigate issues. Left prior to deputy’s arrival.

5:33 p.m., Woodin Road, Chardon. 10-12 school buses full of people heading eastbound on Woodin. Buses were from Cuyahoga County and caller is concerned because school is not in session. He would like area checked. Buses most likely heading to Pioneer.

THEFT

Aug. 1

7:47 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Blue Lakes Farm sign was stolen and lights were broken. Caller does not believe it was anyone he knows and speculates it was a random occurrence. No suspects at this time.
