Aug. 7-13, 2020

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 7-13, 2020.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Aug. 7

10:09 a.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Three cows and two llamas in the road. Animals put back into fenced in area, however, fence was down. Deputy attempted to repair the fence to keep animals from getting out again.

BURGLARY   

Aug. 10

4:04 a.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. State Road Fabrics, two boys, two girls, teenagers just broke in. They are at the back of the building now. Unaware anyone is responding. Teenagers are in the caller’s yard, outside their window. Caller believes they are going to go back to State Road Fabrics. Caller just yelled at them, saying she will blow their heads off. Teenagers ran across the street and into the back of the property. Caller no longer by the phone.  Report taken.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Aug. 11

3:18 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Caller would like to speak with a deputy about an issue she is having with her father. She said her father owns a car dealership and she paid him $4,500 for a car that he has not given her. She is looking for advice on what she can do. Spoke with caller; advice given on civil process.

Aug. 13

2:03 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Caller would like to make a report about his neighbor continuing to harass and cause problems at the property line. Deputy advised. Caller said the neighbor was calling him racial slurs yesterday and threatened to let his dog out on him. Report to follow.

DISORDERLY

Aug. 11

9:13 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Two guys walking around Walter Best Wildlife Preserve lake arguing, going chest to chest. Caller kept walking. UTL.

FRAUD

Aug. 10

4:02 p.m., Campton Ridge Road, Chardon. Caller is out $300 from the llama company. Phone call only.

Aug. 12

3:46 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Caller needs to make a report for fraud against llama company. Caller is from Texas and she has not received her order, which totaled $54.49. Advice given. Information forwarded to detectives.

OVERDOSE

Aug. 7

12:26 p.m., Stone Road, Newbury. 40-year-old female possible overdose. Possibly heroin. She is turning blue. Starting CPR. She is foaming at the mouth. Anginal breathing. Narcan administered. Newbury FD arrived on scene and administered oxygen, and she came to. Report taken.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Aug. 10

5:33 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller is at his residence on Pioneer now. Middlefield fire captain punched his truck, causing damage. Suspect is Middlefield fire captain. Caller drove through an accident and fire captain chased him down and punched the truck. This occurred Friday. Caller admitted to deputy he willfully drive through an emergency FD barricade on Old State Road, said it was a bad judgment call, but that did not give Middlefield FD the right to strike his vehicle. Truck has small impression by door handle. Truck photographed and written statement received. Written statement from Middlefield FD forthcoming.

SUSPICIOUS

Aug. 10

3:15 p.m., Hosmer Road, Parkman. Around 1 p.m. today a tan SUV pulled up and asked caller’s kids if they had seen his dog, asked them to come to his vehicle. They told him no. He left southbound and then came back and asked them if they wanted candy. They told him no and went to the house. He was heavy-set male with black hair, darker skin. Caller would like area checked and for this to be on record. Checked area UTL/GOA.

THEFT

Aug. 7

3:49 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Caller needs to make a report for theft. Someone came into his home and stole $480 cash. Caller said between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. last night an unknown person entered his locked home and took cash out of his desk drawer. Said this also occurred about two weeks ago, but he did not report it. Daughter said she saw the suspect this time. He was described as an Amish male, about 6 feet tall with a long beard. She said suspect was wearing a mask. Caller requested advice about game cameras to attempt to catch the suspect and was provided information about them and best locations to place them.

Aug. 8

1:11 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Theft of $12 face mask. Purchased on Aug. 1. Paid via PayPal. Contacted bank already.

6:44 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Spoke with caller in reference to her complaint. She advised she ordered merchandise from female subject online. She placed the order March 6 for $54.50, but never received the merchandise. She was advised to contact local PD because she lives in Georgia. Information will be passed along to GCSO detectives for follow up.

Aug. 9

3:49 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Someone stole the catalytic converter off her vehicle during the night. Vehicle is for sale by the road. Taken off a 1994 Ford E-350 gas van club wagon. Just wanted GCSO to be aware of incident. Advice given.

Aug. 13

2:10 p.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Theft of four political signs. Female said she just purchased the political signs and they were stolen same day. Just wanted it documented.
