Sept. 4-10, 2020

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 4-10, 2020.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Sept. 5

2:38 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Some of the customers have stated the Democratic Party is telling them they are not allowed at the store. Spoke with complainant who said a customer complained about members of the DNC telling customers they are not allowed in the parking lot. Spoke with DNC secretary and she denied hearing anyone make those statements. She advised she would speak with party members for tomorrow’s gathering. Nothing criminal.

Sept. 9

4:34 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Caller requesting to speak with a deputy. The third-grade teacher slammed the caller’s child’s fingers in his desk, leaving marks. Rescue refused. Deputy advised.

HARASSMENT

Sept. 5

12:46 p.m., Wayne Lane, Hambden. Caller says man who lives in Lake County is harassing and threatening her via text and phone calls. This has been going on for the past couple months. Caller stated she had an affair with man and ended it a couple of weeks ago. Caller on her way to GCSO to make a report. No threats made. Advice given to complainant. Voicemail left for other party involved.

6:59 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Dollar General employee wanted it documented an unknown female had gotten in her face stating she had given her the finer and stated, “I’m going to show you what flipping off really is.” No threats were made and employee wanted the female removed from store. Employee advised to contact GCSO if female comes back into the store and deputy would talk to female.

PURSUIT

Sept. 6

2:30 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Attempting to stop a black buggy on Burton Windsor with two kids on top. One male summoned for open container.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 6

10:06 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Male in his underwear sleeping in vestibule. Deputy advised. Summons issued.

Sept. 7

6:19 p.m., Parkside Road, Munson. Teenage daughter received explicit, sexual texts from what she thought was a juvenile friend, but possibly is an adult. Caller has the messages she can provide deputy. Complainant wanted a phone call to discuss a potential texting predator that was found on social media by her teenage daughter. No photos were exchanged or asked for, however, according to caller it appeared to be moving in that direction. Caller and daughter blocked the number and informed other party the GCSO would be notified. No additional contact has been made. Deputy discussed dangers of juveniles and social media with caller.

THEFT

Sept. 4

5:14 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Caller needs to file a report for theft. He advised about a week ago he misplaced or lost his wallet. Today he returned home and checked his mailbox and found his wallet was mailed back to him. He advised that $1,500 was taken from his wallet, but the credit cards were all there. Report/follow up to be conducted. Statement form left with complainant to complete. Complainant unsure how far he wishes to pursue matter.

Sept. 6

1:19 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Theft of Biden political sign. Advice given.

Sept. 10

7:54 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Three catalytic converters stolen overnight. Report taken.

THREATENING

Sept. 6

1:40 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male threatened to run over Dems tent. White van, eastbound, right side of van is black. Male yelled at complainants as he drive by. Advice given.

VANDALISM

Sept. 5

10:48 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Trump sign was burned last night in front yard. Complainant advised there is no video and does not have any information of a suspect. Advice given to install security cameras for future incidents. She just wanted GCSO to be aware of incident.
