The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 18-24, 2020.
AGENCY ASSIST
Sept. 22
6:12 p.m., Ontario Street, Cleveland. Detectives will be assisting with drug investigations in Cleveland. No check-ups required. Units will be using Cleveland PD radios. Incident to remain open through midnight. Deputy will close when complete.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Sept. 19
7:42 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Southeast corner of the park. There is an owl stuck in the batting cage. Owl was released from cage.
Sept. 20
12:40 a.m., Plank Road, Thompson. Caller has a bat in her house. Unable to catch the bat. Advice given to contact animal nuisance removal company.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Sept. 18
1:32 a.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Caller states her friend will not allow her to pack her things. She is trying to leave and he just keeps taking her things that she has packed and unpacking them. He also keeps turning the lights out, so she has been packing by flashlight. Male and female arguing about female moving out. Advice given and parties agreed to stay separated for the remainder of the evening.
FOUND PROPERTY
Sept. 22
5:50 p.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Caller reports there are bullets all over the road. Property recovered and returned to post for destruction.
FRAUD
Sept. 24
3:07 p.m., Settlers Trail, Auburn. Caller contacted by someone she thought was from Apple computers. Male told caller she needed to get a $500 gift card to Target and provide him with information on card. Once she gave him the information, caller said he was told she needed to get another card. This is when caller said she realized it was a scam and told him she was not getting any more gift cards. Caller said she currently is changing her account information and she only is out $500. Caller said her bank told her to file a report in case more money is taken from her accounts.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Sept. 22
6:28 p.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. Trailer behind caller has large propane tanks and two young juveniles are shooting at the tanks with BB-guns. They are both carrying rifle-like pump-style BB-guns. Deputy advised. Both juveniles admitted to shooting BB-guns at propane tank. Deputy praised juveniles for their honesty and explained the danger of shooting at an explosive gas. Both juveniles indicated it was their last time.
OVERDOSE
Sept. 21
2:57 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Heroin OD in parking lot. Lips turning blue. Male in his 20s. No Narcan available. Male alert and oriented upon arrival. Squad transporting as a precaution. Information obtained for narcotics.
8:43 p.m., Country Oaks Trail, Munson. Male possible overdose, 20-year-old male. Not breathing. Caller is starting CPR. Thinks he was taking Fentanyl laced with Xanax, possibly. He was smoking dabs, too. It’s been about an hour and a half since they saw him. Evidence collected from scene; FD transported male to UH Geauga.
SUSPICIOUS
Sept. 24
2:19 p.m., South State Avenue, Middlefield. Caller believes her ex is drugging her and her kids. Hospital did a hair test and they came back positive for narcotics so they took caller’s kids. Female is in lobby at Middlefield PD to make report. Caller believes her ex-boyfriend drugged her and her 1-year-old child.
THEFT
Sept. 19
12:41 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller had political signs stolen from her yard. She advised this is ongoing problem. Biden signs were pulled out of the ground and torn apart. They were repaired and placed back into the ground. Extra patrol requested.
1:11 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Caller advised lottery scratch-off tickets were stolen from the store. Information taken.
Sept. 22
6:24 p.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden. Caller is upset because her parents will not give her graduation money and checks. She currently is at boyfriend’s house. Caller told deputy her parents, who live in Leroy Township, elected to keep her graduation money to prevent caller from moving out and making bad decisions with the funds. Jurisdiction of complaint belongs to Lake County. Deputy advised caller to communicate with her parents and to find another resolution if possible.
Sept. 24
4:07 a.m., Ascot Lane, Auburn. Caller’s Ford F150 was taken by his daughter without his consent. Caller wants to report it stolen. Caller says vehicle is showing near Maumee, Ohio. Doesn’t know when the car was taken. Last time he saw his daughter was 10 p.m. last night. Caller says his daughter went to stay with a boy in Indiana. Caller does not know the name of the boy or his father.
