The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 16-22, 2020.
ANIMAL ABUSE
Oct. 20
1:19 p.m., Bradford Road, Parkman. Caller wants to report someone shot her cat with an arrow. Report taken.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Oct. 16
10:39 a.m., Lois Lane, Hambden. Someone released our rabbits yesterday. They came onto our porch and set them free. They took the water bowl and placed it on the outside of the shed. GCHS left a card on the door so caller called. Complainant called GCHS who said they had received a complaint about the rabbits and someone being on the porch. Complainant advised her rabbits went missing sometime within the last two weeks. Advice given.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Oct. 20
3:53 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller states there is a no trespassing sign on neighbor’s yard obstructing her view. Dispatch tried to explain it is the neighbor’s property. Caller wants to see a deputy anyway. Deputy had caller speak with neighbor.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Oct. 16
5:45 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Male was confronted by a male with a rifle. Caller is getting on his 4-wheeler to leave. Subject pointed a rifle at caller, but did not threaten him. In the past subject has threatened to kill caller, but not today. Advised caller to go home and go inside his residence to get away from subject.

5:46 p.m., Oak Drive, Newbury. Caller asked what the penalty for simple assault is in Ohio and then proceeded to tell dispatch his neighbor is using the leaf blower to blow his poppy seeds out of the ground. Caller advised he has $150 worth of seed. He asked neighbor to stop, but as soon as caller goes back in the house the neighbor starts doing it again. Caller told deputy he plants mushrooms and the leaf blowing can damage the mushrooms he sells for profit. Deputy spoke with neighbor who agreed not to blow the leave close to caller’s property. Nothing criminal about the incident.
DISORDERLY
Oct. 16
9:31 a.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Male is out of control and is not letting anyone leave the shop. He is on drugs and has machetes in the shop. He threatened to harm complainant with machete last night. He has been drinking all night and using drugs, unknown what kind. There are two step-ladders against the fence, one inside and one outside.
FRAUD
Oct. 20
6:22 p.m., Robert Lane, Auburn. Spoke the complainant who advised someone attempted to withdraw large amount of money from her business account: $16,000, $6,600, $139,000, $154,000. The bank was able to stop all transactions. Complainant had limited information on who was trying to withdraw the money. Complainant will speak with her bank and get as much information as she can. Report to follow.
8:20 p.m., Glenmora Drive, Chardon. Caller needs to make a report for fraud from a construction company they hired to do work. They paid the company but the company never did any of the work. Deputy advised. Caller said company took a check for $7,000 under the condition he was not to cash the check until a formal agreement was made. No formal agreement was made and he cashed the check. Caller attempted to get the work done or her money back. Caller said she was met with deception and resistance. Report to follow.

12:32 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Caller has been talking to a female online who is from Canada. Woman’s son sent caller a check for $6,850. The check was to be cashed and cash given back to female as needed. Check was no good and bank would not accept it.
HARASSMENT
Oct. 16
10:13 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. At the Democratic Party booth, there is a worker who is harassing them. Complainant took a sign from her aunt’s house whom she has power of attorney over and brought it back to the Democratic Party building. Person who works for the Democratic Party told complainant to leave the property and is concerned it was not the aunt’s choice to take down the sign. Complainant will speak to the aunt but not replace the sign.
Oct. 19
11:48 a.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Caller’s neighbors wrote something offensive on his vehicle in the dew on his rear window. Caller wanted incident documented only.
