The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 23-29, 2020.

AGENCY ASSIST

Oct. 27

9:20 p.m., Harner Road, Portage County. Suspicious male hunched over in a field, wearing a Steelers jacket and holding a beer. PCSO unit en route from Ravenna. Assisted PCSO. UTL.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Oct. 23

1:16 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Caller says there is a nice pit bull padlocked to a mailbox. Caller contacted the dog warden who said they couldn’t do anything and the dog looks rather skinny. Caller asked the neighbors and nobody claimed it. Neighbors who have other pit bulls will take the dog to try and feed it some food. Deputy advised. Resident took dog and will post on Facebook.

Oct. 26

9:03 p.m., Hale Road, Burton. Cow running westbound on Butternut Road. Deputy checked area and UTL/GOA.

Oct. 28

11:43 a.m., Stafford Road, Auburn. Loose pig in the roadway.

Oct. 29

2:28 p.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Several goats in the back yard. Damage done to flower pots. Caller thinks they belong to the property behind her. Deputy advised. Neighbor’s dog chased goats into woods.

2:39 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Loose horses in the roadway. Subjects are trying to assist. Deputy advised. UTL/GOA.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Oct. 27

2:19 p.m., Nelson Road, Parkman. 6-8 cans of old gunpowder and old gun shells. Ammo was transported to Post 2.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Oct. 23

12:39 a.m., Mitchells Mill Road, Chardon. Caller says neighbor is at his property line threatening to rape his wife and fight the caller. They are known to own firearms. Two white males. This started because caller turned on his lights. Neighbor no longer is yelling. Neighbors are back outside and screaming at caller, who is staying inside. Dispatch can hear the men screaming. He thinks this is a racial thing. Caller now says the male is a black male, believes there is just one male. Caller cannot see male but hears him screaming in backyard. Share driveway. Caller says female is in the caller’s yard, believes she is intoxicated. She was screaming at the male and tearing up driveway. Caller’s sister went outside and they are yelling at the sister.

EXTRA PATROL

Oct. 27

9:31 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Extra patrol overnight. Owner had a male pass by this afternoon and was taking photos. He has been getting a lot of poor reviews due to his political preference. Business checked OK.

FRAUD

Oct. 23

5:57 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller advised her ID has been stolen. Someone applied for unemployment and she received a letter stating she took out a $20,000 loan on her farm. Money was sent to a Chase Bank. Deputy advised.

Oct. 24

9:15 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Callers were scammed out of $500. Callers put a $590 deposit on a rent-to-own home in Ashtabula County. The home already was occupied and not for sale. It was a Craigslist set up. Transaction occurred through a phone cash app and seller is no longer accessible. Callers are going through their bank in an attempt to reverse the charges. Callers told deputy seller has an Arabic accent. Deputy advised couple to use county records to verify the property owners prior to engaging in a rent-to-own transaction and to utilize local professional services, e.g., realtors or attorneys.

Oct. 26

8:36 a.m., White Road, Burton. Stolen check and it was cashed for $720. Victim’s taxi driver stole a check out of his checkbook and cashed it. Victim does not know if they want to prosecute and will call deputy back.

Oct. 29

10:52 a.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Caller said a subject called and was given passwords to his computer. He now has all the access and was changing stuff around. Report taken.

9:54 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Caller owns the house at this address. Her current tenant called to tell her a male showed up tonight trying to move in. Apparently he was scammed online and paid someone $2,000 in bitcoin for security deposit and first month rent. Male left and did not cause any problems. Deputy found man had found the house through housesforrent.com. Man resides in Willoughby and was advised to contact Willoughby PD.

INJURED PERSON

Oct. 23

4:15 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Female was possibly stabbed. Caller advised a female is standing by the road bleeding and “it doesn’t look good.” Sees another woman holding a knife. Elderly female advised daughter fell, but daughter is holding a knife. Victim is possibly 30 years old. Elderly female did not appear injured, no shoes. Younger female has a chest wound. Female on the ground is not moving or speaking, steak knife was in her hand. Elderly female said her and her daughter were trespassing and do not live there. Elderly female did not know daughter had a knife and said, “Why does she have a knife, after all we’ve been through.” Loss team has two members en route. Coroner’s case. Report taken.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Oct. 23

9:47 a.m., Sutton Place, Munson. Caller’s teenage daughter has been talking to a 37-year-old male via Snap Chat and Facetime. Would like to speak to a deputy. Appears the number being used to communicate may have belonged to a 37-year-old male. Daughter advised the boy with whom she is communicating is 15. Mother advised that, to be certain, she may delete social networking apps.

LITTERING

Oct. 23

3:36 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Caller reports someone put 60-70 flyers at the end of their drive. “You Godless, Treasonous Baby Killing, Cop Genocide Supporting Filth Pickup Your Trash You F&$#’s.”

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 27

3:09 p.m., Music Street, Newbury. Called in by passerby. There was a grey SUV stopped at the intersection. Man was pointing a gun at another male. Black handgun. Two white males. Caller thinks it may have been a fender bender. Other car may have been an older Buick. Deputy advised. Checked area as well as by OSHP. UTL/GOA.

Oct. 28

9:18 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Male in lobby got a message that there is a possible kidnapping or hostage situation. He does not know the address but he knows how to get there. Subject arrested and transported to jail.

1:45 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Parkman. Received a package from India. Caller never ordered anything from there. Deputy advised. Unfounded. Wooden box with ring inside.

THEFT

Oct. 25

8:25 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller was involved in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend yesterday. He returned home from work and his belongings are missing. Deputy advised. Report taken.

Oct. 26

4:30 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Male en route to GCSO from Chester Township PD. He needs to report a stolen gun. Deputy advised.

THREATENING

Oct. 26

5:47 a.m., Garden Street, Burton. Male and female at caller’s house are intoxicated. Slapped caller and threatened him. Caller is stepping outside. Female lives the caller; caller buys her beer and smokes for his rent.

WEAPON OFFENSE

Oct. 28

9:13 a.m., Regent Park Drive, Munson. Caller and his son were duck hunting this morning on their property at Water Fowl Lane. Neighbor came out and was shooting at them with a BB-gun.
