The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 20-26, 2020.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Nov. 21
8:54 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. Horse missing from Reeves. Jumped the fence. Reeves to Bundysburg to 88 to Nash, and then Newcomb. The horse was spotted on 608. Near John’s Nursery. State patrol updated location.
ASSAULT
Nov. 21
2:22 a.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Not in progress; caller is in Mentor and will be coming to post to file a report. Her son was at the residence and was punched. Deputy advised. Caller said her son was assaulted at a party after a verbal altercation. Mother insisted he report it. Statement taken, report to follow. Son advised he did not wish to pursue any charges.
10:19 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Female attacked caller’s wife. Caller advised they stopped at a friend’s house after the game and a female who was intoxicated attacked his wife. She grabbed caller’s wife by the hair and threw her to the ground. Wife refused rescue squad and is very upset. Female was arrested for physically assaulting victims. The assault occurred when caller and his wife were visiting a friend. Wife gave a hug and female jumped out of her seat, caller wife a whore, pulled her hair, punched her in the face and threw her to the ground. Caller was hit in the face when he came to his wife’s aid. Female was charged with assault and disorderly. Report to follow.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Nov. 23
11:13 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Caller states she was texted that mother and father have been fighting and he is intoxicated, threatening to beat the mother. There is a shotgun in the home; they have a history of fighting over the loaded gun. Caller states she can take her sister; caller is worried mother will verbally abuse the little sister. See report.
Nov. 24
11:57 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller returned home to a domestic between wife and children. Wife is intoxicated and has left marks on the children. She has left the house.
EXPLOSIVES
Nov. 23
10:43 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. West of address, caller heard a loud explosion and now can see and smell smoke in the area. Cannot see if it is a structure or not. Deputy responded. Homeowner down the road lit branches on fire. Homeowner put too much gas on the pile and when he lit it, it went BOOM. All checked OK; FD arrived on scene.
FRAUD
Nov. 21
6:17 p.m., Legend Creek Drive, Munson. In August 2020, caller had five fraudulent charges totaling approximately $510 on this BP credit card. BP reimbursed in full. Caller wants to know who took his card number and how they purchased items without presenting the card. BP told caller a police report was required before they could proceed with an investigation.
Nov. 24
9:47 a.m., Heath Road, Munson. Called in to station. Fraud report. Complainant invested $120,000 with a financial institution and now the male she invested it with is believed to be deceased. Caller will forward a written timeline of the events when she writes it.
HARASSMENT
Nov. 24
7:44 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Harassment report in the lobby. Complainant reported incident at Chester PD due to his mailing address. He resides in Munson. All that is needed from sheriff’s office is follow-up phone call to female to advise her to stop calling complainant and his family. Deputy spoke with both parties who accused the other of being the instigator of the texts and social media posts with one another. Advice given to both for steps to take if this continues. Audio recorded via car camera. Nothing criminal at this time.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Nov. 25
10:48 a.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Caller’s truck tailgate was keyed, Trump flag was ripped down and the wife’s car was broken into. Report taken.
ROAD RAGE
Nov. 20
5:42 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. Caller is in an Amazon Prime vehicle. He is being threatened by a male with a knife. Driver was trying to turn around in the drive and another vehicle blocked him in. Caller does not believe the male lives there. Driver arrested for OVI and menacing.
SUSPICIOUS
Nov. 24
1:47 p.m., U.S. 422, Auburn. Eastbound on 422. Male sitting in his white SUV, driving and playing with himself. UTL/GOA.
8:41 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Caller had someone knocking on the door asking if she wanted free food. Caller cannot see if anyone is still there. Neighborhood kid was going door to door offering residents food for the holidays if they didn’t have any.
Nov. 26
11:08 a.m., Greystone Drive, Troy. Would like to speak with a deputy regarding someone shooting BBs at the trailers. Neighbor boys were shooting bb guns and damaged neighbor’s trailer. Father will bring the children over to apologize and pay for damaged. Father will handle discipline.
THEFT
Nov. 21
9:02 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Caller states her ex-boyfriend and his current girlfriend used his old set of keys to get into the caller’s house when she ran up to the store about an hour ago. Caller states this is an ongoing issue. Caller has a case going with Altumus. Caller states the ex-boyfriend took her keys, bag of electronics, car keys and paper work. Caller appears, again, to be under the influence. Same concerns as the last several calls; same advice was given caller as the last several calls.
Nov. 22
2:08 p.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Storage unit. Items are missing from caller’s storage unit: Nintendo, catalytic convertor, air compressor, tent, Nintendo Wii with games, gas motored 4-foot boat (custom-made family heirloom). Caller has evidence toward the case, filed a police report four weeks ago. Caller has found her stuff in the possession of paving company. This is more stuff that she has found missing. Female caller already reported the incident. No new information given. Advice given.
Nov. 25
2:59 a.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Someone was in caller’s truck. Left heading north in small vehicle. Jumped into driver’s seat, stole lottery tickets and about $20.
7:37 a.m., Arbor Trail, Newbury. Caller’s daughter’s wallet was stolen from her car and car had been gone through. Vehicle was left unlocked overnight. Advice given.
7:59 a.m., Arbor Trail, Newbury. Items taken from car last night. Phone charger, scented candles and theater props were taken from complainant’s unlocked vehicle.
9:18 a.m., Arbor Trail, Newbury. Cash and purse taken from car. $150 was taken from complainant’s unlocked vehicle during the night. Advice given.
2:34 p.m., Arbor Trail, Newbury. Caller says $400-500 in cash and other things were stolen from a car in caller’s driveway. Complainant’s car was unlocked. Mo cameras in the area. Advice given.
3:26 p.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Male reported $120 taken from unlocked vehicle. Wallet left in car and cash was removed from wallet. Male advised to keep his car locked when unattended.
