The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 25-31, 2020.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Dec.25

3:35 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Neighbor continues to plow his drive into my yard. Complainant does not wish to meet with deputies. Deputy advised and arrived on scene and spoke with complainant, who showed deputy area of concern. Deputy followed up with neighbor who was advised if he or anyone from his residence pushes snow onto complainant’s property again charges will be filed. Deputy asked neighbor to hand shovel the snow that was pushed from his property onto complainant’s property back into his yard.

Dec. 28

7:19 p.m., South Springdale Avenue, Middlefield. White male, skinny, wearing baseball cap, giving manager a hard time, calling people “white n——.” Male has left store on foot. Was flipping people off, unknown weapons. Talking about “killing the world.” Male appears to be under the influence. Male is alone. Deputy responded. Male said someone called him an unpatriotic American and he left. Male checks OK and advised he was going home.

DISORDERLY

Dec. 26

10:24 a.m., South Springdale Avenue, Middlefield. Male refusing to wear a mask. Deputy spoke with male in his vehicle in the parking lot. Stated he understood a store has the right to ask them to leave. No physical violence.

FOUND PROPERTY

Dec. 30

9:54 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male found his stolen power tool at pawn shop and they wouldn’t tell him who sold it to them. Located his drill on Christmas Eve. He advised the drive was only a few hundred dollars and he didn’t feel like making a report. He did, however, want to know who pawned it. Complainant is worried one his employees stole it from him. He was provided the name of the person who pawned it and complainant does not know them.

FRAUD

Dec. 29

4:10 p.m., Cottage Hill Lane, Chardon. Caller needs to make a report for identity theft for him and his wife. Unemployment claim filed under husband and wife’s name. Male alerted employer. Names and numbers provided to contact credit bureaus and FTC.

Dec. 31

11:02 a.m., Juniper Drive, Hambden. Someone filed unemployment in caller’s name. Deputy responded and spoke with complainant about fraud via unemployment. She explained her place of employment caught this illegal activity prior to benefits being given. Deputy advised complainant to contact her bank and credit cards to inform them of the ongoing issue. She already contacted the three credit bureaus. Documentation only.

HARASSMENT

Dec. 28

11:58 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Neighbor has been harassing caller and her animals. He was screaming at them last night. Reporting person advised the neighbor is upset the dogs are barking. Caller did not want responding officer to talk to the neighbor at this point and will call again if it continues.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

Dec. 30

8:41 a.m., Newcomb Road, Middlefield. Male customer “exposed himself” at the store. If caller is not there, another person can talk to the deputy. Male identified who exposed himself. Follow up to be conducted.

OVERDOSE

Dec. 27

12:32 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Caller advised “his son is down and I think it’s drugs, get here now!!!” and then hung up. See report.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 25

6:50 p.m., Tavern Road, Troy. House on Shedd someone is pointing a green laser in the face of drivers. Young child located playing with a laser. Parents advised of complaint and said they would handle it from there.

Dec. 27

9:38 a.m. Ravenna Road, Auburn. Male, camo coat, walking down the road with a rifle. May be a hunter. Deputy checked the area where male was last seen. UTL.

THEFT

Dec. 27

9:03 a.m., Plank Road, Montville. Caller says the house was broken into and the hot water tank was stolen. Caller is the contractor for the property. Bank wants to file an insurance claim. Deputy advised. See report.

Dec. 28

4:27 p.m., Dewey Road, Montville. Theft of ammunition from the house, possibly from contractors working onsite. Boxes of ammo taken from closet. Report taken.

THREATENING

Dec. 30

7:23 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Neighbor is there threatening fiancé with a gun. Caller has not seen the gun. Caller stated neighbor said he had purchased a gun. Male with facial injuries. Report to follow. Male being transported downtown to UH. Police hold, will be going with the male.

TRESPASSING

Dec. 25

7:26 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Snowmobiles trespassing on property. Caller would like to talk with deputy about what he can do to keep RVs off his property. Caller wanted it documented that snowmobilers have been driving through his yard to get to the field behind his house. He does not know who they are and they are no longer there.

UNCONSCIOUSNESS

Dec. 26

5:34 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Male unconscious. Possible overdose. 23-year-old male. He is now conscious. Deputy arrived on scene and was taken into the home and up to a room where male was now sitting up conscious and alert. He admitted he had “fell out” twice today. He admitted to using heroin but stated there was none left. Nothing was observed in plain view and male declined transport by Newbury EMS.
