The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 5-11, 2021.
ANIMAL ABUSE
Feb. 9
5:14 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller bought two horses from person in Thompson. Both are malnourished. Caller lives in Geneva. Caller states she wants the horses back after she is finished building her barn. Deputy attempted to contact caller via telephone since she lives in Geneva. A message was left requesting a call back.
ANIMAL BITE
Feb. 5
6:32 p.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Spoke with child’s father. He said the children were in the barn getting the pony ready to go sledding. He said his son tripped over something and fell on the dog. He said his son started screaming and the dog bit his son in the face. Father said the dog was theirs and he believes the dog only bit because his son fell on him. Child was transported to hospital by squad.
ASSAULT
Feb. 7
2:32 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Caller was out for a walk and a male attacked her. White male, 6-foot tall, black hoodie, new white shoes, in his 20s with stubble beard. Male ran behind the mailboxes to the trail. Female states trail leads to Chardon, but she is not sure the direction at the fork. He did strike her and had a dull knife and tried to cut her. Chardon PD assisted, checked the bike path, but nothing located. Chardon PD also checked gas stations. Female caller transported to UH Geauga.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Feb. 6
9:51 a.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Sent a unit to the sale barn on Nauvoo Road. They are having a GOP meeting and there are people being disruptive. GOP rented the event center for a private party and had people there who were not invited. Deputy asked them to leave and they did.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Feb. 8
3:34 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. Caller stated her husband beat her up, kicked the dog and is now running around in the woods. Caller states her arm is bleeding. No firearms. Female could not stay on line; he was coming out of the bedroom and said he would beat her up. Female said male was running around acting crazy and that she needed someone to get her or him out of there. Report to follow. Female to ER for evaluation.
FRAUD
Feb. 5
8:30 p.m., Westwood Drive, Newbury. Caller hacked via computer and took out $38,000 from his account and $7,000 worth of gift cards. Money was taken out of his account on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. Caller would like to wait until she arrives. She is coming from Cincinnati. She will call back when she is close. Deputy advised. Report taken.
OVERDOSE
Feb. 5
11:04 p.m., West High Street, Middlefield. 27-year-old male overdose, possibly on Percocet. Male is incoherent, lips are turning blue. Patient is making “funny sounds.” Father got on the line and said he went to paramedic school and that male is breathing fine. Lips are blue. Agonal breathing heard in the background, male advised to start CPR. Female on the phone, 30mg of Percocet, male had been drinking, came back from bar and took it. Unknown how much male drank; friend said “a lot.” Was home for 10 minutes. Thinks they took Percocet at the bar, half at bar and half at home. Narcan administered by an officer and male revived. After being revived, male admitted to consuming alcohol and taking 1/2 pill of Percocet. Middlefield FD transported male to ER for medical treatment. While Middlefield EMTs were treating male, deputies were required to shield EMTs from father, who was impeding the EMTs and becoming confrontational.
Feb. 6
2:04 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Someone dropped off a male in the ER who is overdosed and then left. Report to follow.
Feb. 10
9:48 p.m., U.S. 422, Auburn. 20-year-old male overdosing. Breathing but not conscious. East of Munn on 422. Male got out of car and is now standing. Caller is driver. Caller said male inhaled heroin he claims was bought in Cleveland. Bainbridge PD found a bindle of suspected heroin on the victim and turned over the evidence to deputy. Charges against male are pending BCI analysis. Male has an active FTA warrant through Madison, but they declined. Male was transported to Geauga ER for treatment. No police holds pending.
SUSPICIOUS
Feb. 8
11:42 a.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. A male and child came to the door. Male told caller he knew she was going to get a lot of money and if she didn’t open the door he would blow up the trailer. They left in an unknown vehicle because they parked around the corner.
Feb. 11
7:01 p.m., Park View Drive, Newbury. Caller received child porn images in a text from unknown party. Deputy observed the photos and they do not appear to be child pornography, and the message attached appeared to be a joke. Deputy performed a reverse phone number lookup of sender and number appears to be fake or a spoofed number. Caller wanted incident documented. Caller blocked the sender and deleted the message, and stated she would be changing her phone number.
THEFT
Feb. 8
9:04 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Gulf station employee’s scooter stolen on video. Report to follow.
5:17 p.m., Cleveland Drive, Auburn. Caller said she ordered a GPS tracking collar, the tracking number said it was delivered, post office said it was delivered and they said it was not delivered. Post office worker hung up on caller and will not give her an answer if the item was delivered or not. Caller contacted the company and it said the collar had been activated and gave the names of who collar is listed under and the name of dog. Caller is on her way home from work. Collar cost $160.
THREATENING
Feb. 11
11:49 a.m., Burrows Road, Thompson. First-grader threatened caller’s son at school. “I’m going to come to your house and kill you.” “We have guns, if you walk in I’ll shoot you dead.” School and YMCA did an investigation and know that threats were made. Caller’s son is in third grade. Report taken. Deputy will follow up with the school.
