The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 19-25, 2021.
DISORDERLY
March 20
4:01 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. There is a male in jeans and a plaid poncho, and he states he has coronavirus and won’t leave. He is now in the showroom. Deputy arrived and learned male was acting suspicious. Upon arrival, no threats were made; the employees just did not feel comfortable with the male. Male was advised not to return. Trespassing warning issued.
DRUGS
March 20
2:28 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Male in the ER seems to have meth. Go to security office. Male was brought to the ER by taxi driver because he was overdosing. Taxi driver said he picked up male from a house on the corner of state routes 88 and 534. Said while he was driving male back to his house in Orwell the male became unresponsive and quit breathing. Tried calling 911 but his phone was not working, so he drove male to hospital.
EXPLOSIVES
March 19
4:41 p.m., Old State Road, Parkman. Caller states something exploded at his neighbor’s house. Male has been firing weapons all day and he states his neighbor detonated something and he can hear screaming and yelling. It shook caller’s house. Caller states male has made explosives in the past. Deputy responded. Gender reveal party that had fireworks; party is over with. Advice given.
FRAUD
March 20
1:50 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Unknown caller contacted complainant and said she was wanted for buying drugs in Mexico. Complainant did not provide any info to caller. Advice given.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
March 22
8:19 p.m., Hosmer Road, Parkman. Car came into yard and turfed it. Just prior they threw something at caller’s 11-year-old son who was on the road with a pony. Also they came at my father-in-law. This same car did this one month ago and chased the girls. Description was a tan Jeep Cherokee-type vehicle. Caller said they have had issues with this vehicle for some time. The vehicle usually comes from the north and drives south on the road, turns around and comes back. Complainant said he has not had any issues with anyone. Deputy checked yard and found 5-inch deep ruts in the grass. Complainant said he would get license plate. He also asked for extra patrol in the area between 5-8 p.m.
SUSPICIOUS
March 20
2:01 p.m., West Center Street, Burton. Caller would not give name but said a male subject has warrants with GCSO and is not at the house next door. Male does have a Capias for aggravated possession and trafficking. Male taken into custody without incident.
March 21
12:27 a.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Bright light in the sky only visible for a few seconds. Caller reports almost appeared to be a meteor. No other issues reported. Deputy checked area and everything checked OK.
12:45 a.m., Water Street, Chardon. Grey Honda Civic and white Toyota or Buick, yelling profanities, cursing. Vehicles were parked in parking lot. Checked OK. Group of males had a verbal altercation with an unknown female who sprayed their car with pepper spray, then fled the area. Everyone on their way, parents advised.
March 22
5:36 p.m., Woodiebrook Road, Munson. Complainant has located a deer stand on his property and is concerned someone is watching their home at night. He escorted deputy to the hunting stand on his property. The stand faces to the backyard of Thwing Road home. Complainant is concerned about the stand and is worried a person may be looking into their windows at night. He advised he was going to set up a camera to see if anyone was going into the stand.
10:46 p.m., Ravenwood Drive, Claridon. Resident found a bag with white powder residue in it. Would like a deputy to come get it. It was found on the driveway that connects the TLC and the independent living apartments. Deputy took custody of the bag and will enter it into property to be destroyed. White powder is suspected to be an illegal drug.
March 23
2:53 p.m., Shedd Road, Burton. White van following a female in bare feet, walking toward Burton. She is wearing a black coat. She then got into the van and headed toward Burton.
THEFT
March 24
10:23 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Caller advised his shed was broken into. Numerous DeWalt power tools and batteries, generator and multiple saws taken. This occurred over past few days. Caller said he has cameras but the one pointing to shed has been moved pointing down.
WEAPONS OFFENSE
March 22
6:20 p.m., Cumberland Trail, Auburn. Caller stated his neighbor went out and put up no trespassing signs. While he was doing so he had a gun in a holster. Neighbor never took gun out of the holster. Caller is concerned and does not feel safe in his own home. Neighbor said complainant is harassing him. He said he was going out with his side arm on him to post no trespassing signs on his property. He felt sure there would be another complaint. Complainant said he did not want the sign pointing toward his house. Complainant told deputy he was not threatened with the gun. Complainant also asked what was going in with his prior complaint that another deputy handled. Deputy advised complainant to contact that deputy and also explained how to obtain a protection order.
