The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 9-15, 2021.
AGENCY ASSIST
April 10
9:58 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Two juveniles, one male and one female, 16 and 14, took off on foot southbound on Aquilla. Ran away from Geauga Youth Center and are missing. Moreland Hills located both individuals at the home of a friend on Chagrin River Road. They will be transported to Moreland Hills PD. One juvenile male arrested and transported to Portage County Juvenile Detention Center.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
April 10
4:09 a.m., Patch Road, Parkman. Multiple cows in the roadway. Caller chased them into a field, but couldn’t wake anyone up. OSHP not available. Area was checked, UTL on the cows.
9:30 a.m., Kile Road, Montville. Neighbor has a bunch of animals that are coming onto caller’s property. Would like to speak with a deputy about this issue. Information documented and neighbor was warned to secure his animals on his own property.
CITIZEN ASSIST
April 9
5:01 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller states mother of his daughter, her boyfriend is signing official hospital documents and taking daughter to the doctor pretending to be her biological father. Spoke with complainant and advice given to contact hospital/doctor’s office and advise them of the issue. Also was advised to see if the mother had given the doctor permission for boyfriend to sign the papers.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
April 11
8:44 a.m., Waterfowl Lane, Munson. 25-year-old son attacking father, put father on the ground, threatened the father. Son has gone upstairs. There are guns in the home, not loaded. No known drinking or drugs. Son has a dog and his father does not think he takes good care of it, and the father questioned son about the dog’s care. Report to prosecutor.
FRAUD
April 9
5:23 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Caller advised someone hacked into his accounts and took money. Deputy advised. See report.
April 13
9:28 p.m., Susan Lane, Hambden. Caller is reporting fraud. He said he was contacted by what sounded like an Asian female stating she was from the FBI. He said the female said he was under investigation for drugs. Caller then cursed at the female and hung up. Caller advised he later found his bank account frozen. Caller did not provide the female with any banking information, but was defrauded out of $880 last month in a similar scam. He advised he would contact his bank in the morning.
April 14
12:42 p.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Fraud call and they were able to get into her bank account for $800.
HARASSMENT
April 11
4:03 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Wants to speak to deputy regarding ongoing harassment. Caller said her husband’s friend raised her voice and took her coat off to fight her.
INJURED PERSON
April 14
6:06 p.m., Essex Court, Claridon. Complainant works for FedEx and was delivering a package that required a signature, so complainant knocked on the door. A little girl opened the door and while doing so a dog ran out of the home and bit complainant. Girl at the home attempted to use a shock collar to prevent the attack but was unable prior to the bite occurring.
SUSPICIOUS
April 15
9:50 a.m., Munnberry Oval, Newbury. Three children playing outside last night and white van was driving through the area and the occupants, male and female, were filming them and taking pictures. No plate seen. White Toyota van. Advised female to generate Facebook post on neighborhood page about incident and to contact GCSO if residents observe suspicious activity again.
THEFT
April 9
9:45 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Catalytic converter stolen out of a van. Business name is Metzenbaum Sheltered Industries. Report taken.
April 13
6:08 p.m., Newcomb Road, Parkman. Caller is home on Shedd Road and wants to report a trailer stolen, It is an enclosed trailer and turned into a concession trailer. Law saw it last Friday or Saturday. Report taken.
TRAFFIC CRASH
April 13
7:04 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. While selling his dirt bike, caller took it for a ride to show the buyer it ran. During the ride, he lost control in the soft yard causing it to crash into the yard. Caller sustained what looks like a compound fracture of his right ankle. No other injuries reported. Caller was transported to UH Geauga.
WEAPON OFFENSE
April 10
3:19 p.m., Mill View Lane, Munson. Caller complaining his neighbor on Mill View Lane is shooting. Dispatch did explain if shooting safely it is permitted. Deputy responded and no shots and no one shooting observed. Caller concerned of large caliber ammunition being fired. Advised shooting is allowed if done safely.
