State Sen. Sandra O’Brien presented the leadership team of University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center with a declaration recognizing its ranking as one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals by Fortune/IBM Watson Health in the teaching hospital category during a visit June 17.
UH-Geauga achieved the ranking for the second year in a row.
The hospital was recognized for high scores in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and patient experience, ranking in the top percentage within 80% to 100% of its peer hospitals. Additional measurements included financial health and a new community health category, with the goal of identifying how hospitals improve their surrounding footprint.
During her visit, O’Brien met with hospital leadership to recognize the outstanding patient care provided by UH-Geauga, adding it was an honor for her to visit UH-Geauga and recognize the team.
O’Brien, as well as Senate President Matt Huffman, signed the declaration and recognized UH-Geauga as having long been a dependable provider of healthcare services to area residents.
“The outstanding reputation that the University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center has gained is a credit to the dedication of its administrators, physicians and employees, for they have willingly given their time, abilities and enthusiasm for the public welfare,” the declaration said. “Through their unwavering commitment to the highest standards of healthcare, they have helped to ensure that the institution will continue its tradition of superior service long into the future.”
