The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 18-24, 2021.
ANIMAL BITE
June 22
7:37 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Female bitten by raccoon. According to a third-party Russian translator, female was attacked by a raccoon while she was sitting in her backyard. The elderly couple recently released a pet raccoon; it is unknown if the attack was from the recent pet or a wild raccoon. Raccoon cannot be located. Female transported to ER.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
June 19
6:29 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Bird flew into caller’s car and it is still alive. It is in the middle of the road. Caller is very upset. ODNR handled prior to arrival.
June 22
8:51 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Caller reports there are cows on his property and asked if he could shoot them. Dispatch advised him not to shoot the cows. Deputy advised. Deputy told complainant cows do not understand human boundaries and not to take matters into his own hands. Deputy met with owner of cows who found a breach in fence said it would be repaired. Owner was apologetic and also offered to clean up any cow dung left on neighbor’s property.
ASSAULT
June 18
11:04 p.m., West High Street, Middlefield. Two males involved in a fight. Caller is bleeding from the mouth. Male got into a fight with patrons at the bar. He is intoxicated. They want him escorted out of the bar and he is refusing to leave. One male arrested for disorderly conduct and assault.
CITIZEN ASSIST
June 20
11:28 a.m., Woodin Road, Chardon. Male is out of town and claiming his wife is going to lie and say he abandoned her.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
June 18
8:20 p.m., Valentine Road, Thompson. My neighbor was just on his deck staring at me. Would like to make a report. There was a protection order against him but they just came to an agreement with his attorney that they stay on their own property and don’t look at each other. Advice given to contact family attorney to go through with the court process.
FRAUD
June 18
2:34 p.m., Charlton Lane, Newbury. Spoke with complainant who advised unknown person(s) used Venmo and somehow hacked into his PNC account and purchased Walmart and Chick-fil-A gift cards. PNC is refunding the loss and IR needed for bank’s investigation.
HARASSMENT
June 23
3:24 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller is upset because the same man who works for ODOT continues to harass her. He mows down her lilies every year and continues to tear up the yard. ODOT contacted.
STABBING
June 20
5:01 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Male stabbed his brother in the arm. Caller no longer sees knife. Male is back in the house. Male arrested for felonious assault and domestic violence.
SUSPICIOUS
June 20
12:32 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller walking from marina to manor house and thinks someone is following him. Thought he saw someone. Caller is alone. Caller has a switchblade on him and other knives. No other weapons. Caller located and transported back to house.
June 22
4:29 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Caller received a suspicious call. They stated they are coming to her home tomorrow. A male told her she won a prize from Publisher’s Clearing House. She told the male she did not enter any drawing. Male told her the prize would be delivered at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Complainant wants this documented.
7:59 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Male wearing a long dress with long hair checking out mailboxes. Male located on side of road and said he was dropping notes in people’s mailboxes. After identifying himself it was discovered he has multiple warrants. PCSO responded to scene to take custody of male without incident.
June 24
6:22 p.m., Stoney Springs Drive, Claridon. Someone keeps planting small American flags in my yard by my mailbox. On June 22, there was a small flag in the ground. June 24 there were three more.
