Mark A. Douglas
CHARDON TWP. – Mark A. Douglas, age 61, of Chardon Township, passed away Aug. 20, 2021, at his home after a courageous journey with prostate cancer.
Mark was born Aug. 4, 1960, in Euclid, to Marvin and Joyce Douglas (both deceased).
He graduated from Kirtland High School in 1978, Hiram College in 1982 and OSU ATI in 1984.
Mark’s passion for the golf course industry began when working on the maintenance crew at Kirtland Country Club on college summer breaks. His career includes assistant golf court superintendent at Kirtland Country Club, golf course superintendent at Montclair Country Club in Dumfries, Va., ; golf course superintendent at Legend Lake Golf Club in Chardon and, most recently, golf course manager of Shawnee Hills at Cleveland Metroparks. He was a CGCS and member of the NOGCSA.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing and the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
Mark is the beloved husband of 33 years to Patty (nee Roeder); proud father of Taryn Douglas (fiancé Grant McDaniel) and Dana Douglas; brother of Lisa Zawacki; son-in-law to Jim and Patsy Roeder (both deceased); brother- in-law to Ed and Cheryl Bruss, Sue Roeder-Knight, Jim and Annemarie Roeder, Pam Roeder, Mike Roeder and Sherri Crahen, Bill and Joan Roeder; uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at St. Mary Church, 401 North St., Chardon, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., with Mass at 11:30 a.m.
Private burial to take place at a later date.
