Fourth-Grade Math

Fourth-grade math students model fractions by creating their own fraction kits. They use the fraction strips to investigate equivalent fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions. They were so excited to make comparisons, find equivalent fractions and discover connections. Their excitement for learning is exhilarating.

Famous Figures Elective

In Famous Figures this week, students began exploring and researching famous psychologists. Examples included Ivan Pavlov, Albert Bandura, B.F. Skinner and Stanley Milgrim, to name a few.

The students were also joined by NDES’ famous school psychologist, Dave Bellini. Mr. Bellini came to speak with students about what a psychologist does, who can visit a psychologist and for what reasons. Through a question and answer session, students got to hear what the hardest and most rewarding parts of working as a school psychologist are and how laughter and humor can help in stressful situations. Additionally, Mr. Bellini gave students advice for when they face anxious thoughts, especially in regards to test anxiety as midterms are approaching.

Having exposure to the resources the school offers is essential especially during the last two years with Covid. Mental health is a significant piece of overall health and NDES thanks Mr. Bellini for his dedication to the students.

Christmas Boutique

Thanks to Christmas Boutique chairs, Mrs. Worley and Ms. DePaul, and all of the other NDPA members, the school had an outstanding Christmas Boutique. The NDPA shopped all year to provide students with a plethora of amazing gifts to purchase for their families.

Thanks to all our parents who volunteered to give the students an amazing experience. Special thanks to Sr. Debra Doig and her staff for the use of the auditorium, and to the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade friendship partners for helping the younger students shop.
