The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 29 to May 5, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
May 3
3:51 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Five cows and a calf loose from the property across the street. They are not in road yet, but caller is concerned they will be soon. Deputy got the cows back in the barn.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
April 29
12:08 a.m., Myra Drive, Chardon. Male states he was attacked by his father. He was able to knock his father over. Mother witnessed the incident. Caller states argument was over the son talking about a flood that had occurred hundreds of years ago. Father said he is a geologist and caller didn’t know what he was talking about. Father started yelling at caller and told caller he was going to kick him out of house. Caller went to his room and father followed and forced door open. Caller pushed father off him and father “back fisted” caller in the face. Guns in home. Caller said father consumed an entire bottle of wine himself and has a history of domestic. Three long guns and a 9mm firearm removed from home for safe keeping. One male in custody for DV and taken to jail.
EXTRA PATROL
May 4
2:21 p.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Male would like house checked on due to threats from Door Dash driver. Driver threatened to kill his animals and “f&%$ him up” after caller called the restaurant after they messed up his order. Caller would like to speak to a deputy. Complainant is staying in a hotel outside of the county and has ordered through Door Dash three times. He had an issue with one of the deliveries. Claims the driver called him back and said he knew where he lived and was going to “f-up” his animals and wife. Complainant now stating he called a friend in the Hell’s Angels and asked them to go to the house and “take care of things.” Deputy handling when he clears a crash. Complainant called back and is still upset about the way this call was handled and requested it be documented.
FRAUD
May 2
3:34 p.m., High Country Lane, Hambden. Male in lobby to report harassment and fraud that happened online. Complainant advised he was talking to a girl online and they exchanged photographs. Complainant further states now the scammer wants money or they will send out his photos. No money was given and complainant deleted his accounts. Complainant requested incident documented. Advice given.
May 4
10:11 p.m., North Woods Circle, Chardon. Caller said she got an email, stated the email was from Coinbase, with a phone number that she called. She gave them her bank information, she downloaded an app, with $2,000 of charges. Stated the male gave her a name and his number, stated she needed to pay $20,500 on a bitcoin account. Caller was subject of an email scam. Advice given.
HARASSMENT
April 29
11:55 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. Subject in lobby to report harassment and fraud on Facebook for past three months. Caller had her Facebook account hacked. Unknown person is asking for money on her behalf. Prosecutor’s investigator is investigating.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
May 2
7:03 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Neighbor kids are bullying caller’s son. They have been harassing him and hit him with a stick. They are 10-year-old boys. Caller’s son is 9. This is an ongoing issue and other parents won’t take responsibility. Harassing him on school bus and in neighborhood over a missing water gun. Deputy advised caller to speak with school and he would speech with the kids and their parents. Parents agreed harassing needs to stop and said they will speak to their children.
SUSPICIOUS
April 29
7:41 p.m., West High Street, Middlefield. Caller stated a female, dark hair, pink pants, approached him and asked him to help her get high. Female needs evaluated. No lights or sirens.
May 2
12:53 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Out with a male in an orange shirt and tan pants. Suicide prevention walker.
May 3
11:13 a.m., Ashton Trail, Munson. Someone is in a tent on the property. Would like them removed.
THEFT
May 4
2:01 p.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Complainant shipped a part out of a Harley motorcycle through the mail. Once package reached its destination. Package was damaged and parts were missing. Shipping company is not refunding complainant for parts. Advice given. Incident is not a theft.
THEFT AUTO
May 5
7:20 a.m., Locust Grove Drive, Hambden. Rental car stolen. Complainant left it parked in the roadway, keys in it. Upon arrival it was learned Enterprise Rental had come and picked up the vehicle.
THREATENING
May 4
9:48 p.m., Ascot Lane, Auburn. Caller is receiving threatening messages from an unknown Instagram account. Person is threatening to kill her and her family overnight tonight. Caller doesn’t know who the messages are from. No threats of death or harm were made. Advice given to female on social media safety. Extra patrol requested for the night.
