The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 20-26, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
May 23
5:21 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. Caller’s five cows in roadway. Need help with traffic to get them back to property. Blocked traffic as the cows crossed the road.
ASSAULT
May 20
9:10 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Caller’s 8-year-old child was hit by neighbor’s 11-year-old child. He was kicked in the chest three times, declined rescue. Caller advised this is the second time in two days the neighbor has hit her child. Complainant requested that deputies mediate the situation as the parents discussed the behavior.
CITIZEN ASSIST
May 21
11:42 a.m., Rapids Road, Burton. Caller currently at Post 2, requesting an escort and assistance getting his 2008 car back from someone on Rapids Road. Civil dispute over a contract breach. Parties advised to file in civil court. Car was not surrendered and complainant told to leave the property.
May 25
2:24 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Employee is in the bathroom falling asleep and owner needs assistance escorting him off the property. Caller expects an issue with him. Caller does not believe he needs a squad. Employee has been removed, no response needed. Canceled.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
May 20
12:39 p.m., Butternut Road, Munson. Caller, an Amazon driver, has a vehicle blocking him into a private drive that serves several homes. Male resident told caller he was speeding. Resident got out of his car and was swearing and yelling at the caller. Deputy told resident he cannot hold someone against their will. Resident said he would not let driver go until a manager was contacted. Resident moved his vehicle so Amazon driver could leave. Amazon driver advised to mind his speed in the area. Resident is distraught over situation and would like it on file. Complainant would like to file charges against this other party.
FRAUD
May 22
9:58 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Phone harassment. They got $2,400 from caller yesterday. Information obtained, voicemails left.
May 24
9:09 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Fraudulent buyer acting from a company ordered $193,000 worth of gloves from the victim company. The buyer arranged shipping for the gloves and were picked up. Company never received payment for the gloves.
May 26
2:39 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. 19-year-old male believes he was scammed and has been the victim of sextortion. Female he was exchanging photos with online is now demanding money, alleging she is 13 year old. Caller will be waiting outside to speak with a deputy. Male said he met a girl via Snapchat who stated she lived in California and was going to school for nursing. She sent a photo to caller from the waist down. He sent a photo of himself back. Then she told him she was 13 and if he did not send her $300 she would post the photo of him on social media. She wanted to money sent via PayPal, Apple cash or Zelle. Male advised not to send any money and it most likely is a scam. He also was advised to block her on Snapchat.
HARASSMENT
May 23
6:51 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Caller states she is being harassed by three adults in the neighborhood. Calling her names and threatened to snap her dog’s neck and shoot caller. Caller advised a little girl was saying things to her while she was picking up her little brother and then the little girl’s mother started yelling at caller. Report to follow.
LITTERING
May 21
12:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Newbury road garage found mail and several other items that are not recyclable or permitted to be disposed of there. Mail belongs to a Stafford Road resident. Subjects using Newbury Township Road Department dumpster to dispose of trash without permission.
SUSPICIOUS
May 20
9:59 p.m., Orange Lane, Auburn. 16-year-old male received text messages from someone who said they could see him, could hear what he was saying. Reports the individual threatened to kill him and then said he was joking. Deputy met with caller and her son, who said he was playing Xbox with his friend in Pennsylvania and Facetiming him when he started getting texts from someone. He showed deputy text messages.
THEFT
May 20
7:08 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller reports her adult daughter stole credit cards from her and her OLN information to use the credit cards. The incident is under investigation.
THREATENING
May 20
10:44 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Caller states there is a male threatening her boyfriend. No weapons, they are separated. Does smoke weed. Male is threatening to kill caller and his family, and is threatening he is going to have Paige beat up caller.
May 24
7:19 p.m., Wye Road, Munson. Caller states another child, a sixth-grader, threatened to shoot her son on the school bus and also texted him threats. Caller already spoke with Chardon PD and they advised her to make a report.
