The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 17-23, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
June 21
8:21 a.m., Crackel Road, Auburn. 8-10 cows in the road. On Crackel between Auburn and 44. Owner was advised her cows were loose; she will be out to get them back in the fence.
June 22
7:25 p.m., Clay Street, Thompson. Caller has eight horses and when she went out to check the horses there are now nine horses in her pasture. Unknown where the additional horse came from. As deputy arrived, complainant stated the horse belonged to her neighbor who was not home. Complainant was able to walk the horse home a few houses south. No assistance needed from deputy.
CITIZEN ASSIST
June 18
10:32 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Registered offender is in town for visitation and has documents he is to have signed as proof when he is in town.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
June 19
8:34 p.m., Bascom Road, Hambden. Caller is advising female subject just sprayed him with bug spray. Parties are now separated. He is soaking wet from the bee spray. Female subject arrested for DV.
June 22
10:06 p.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Two males physically fighting. Males in their 30s. Caller is now leaving with one of males to take him home. Other male is still at house. The males are dating and it is a violent relationship. Caller and male in car are yelling. Male is throwing things at caller. Male is now getting out of car. He also has a friendly pit bull with him. Male took off through the yard on the corner. Both males are intoxicated, no weapons. Male arrested for DV.
FRAUD
June 17
9:35 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. Caller ordered a boat motor and paid $4,000. He has yet to receive it. Wire transferred $4,190 to a bank in Indonesia to purchase a boat motor online. Company he sent the money to is located in Singapore. Preliminary investigation suggest the company is a scam. Caller advised his neighbor may have further contact information for the company owner. Investigation pending.
June 18
8:52 p.m., Farley Road, Parkman. Someone hacked caller’s bank account and drained her account. Contact made with complainant who advised an unknown party charged multiple transactions on her debit card through Sterling Bank at Sam’s Club. All transactions were in low dollar amount resulting in $230 from the account being removed and $70 in overdraft charges. Complainant contacted her bank and new account number and card being provided. Report number provided for bank.
June 21
12:11 p.ml, Hosford Road, Chardon. Female in lobby to report online banking fraud and lost property. Deputy advised. Caller received a text message from PNC Bank yesterday for a Zelle transaction for $2,500. Money was sent to Zelle case manager. Caller lost $1,240.32. Caller will follow up with PNC.
5:22 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Caller wants to report fraud. Stated she called a phone number and they said they would be at her house within six hours. Caller said she gave these people her personal information. She said she was on the phone with who she believed to be an old friend from New Jersey who gave caller a phone number to call about possibly getting more money from Social Security. Caller called the number and spoke with a male. She provided her full name, date of birth and address, and also wanted to know what type of vehicle she drove. Male told caller someone would be at her house with a check for $80,000 and that caller would have to pay $800 for the money to be released to her. Caller hung up and called GCSO to report scam.
HARASSMENT
June 17
7:35 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Caller reports female subject is having men message her on Facebook. Caller states men are telling her subject female sending them her information. Deputy advised.
June 22
10:40 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Unknown female keeps sending caller nude photos. Party said she sent them to him by mistake and then tried to solicit him. He has asked her to stop sending photos and she will not. Complainant advised to have his carrier block the phone number.
INJURED PERSON
June 18
7:05 p.m., Grove Road, Troy. Male in his 20s with possible broken ankle. At Cleveland Parachute Club. Staff will direct EMS. Transporting soon to Geauga.
POSSIBLE DUI
June 17
10:45 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Anonymous caller reporting two intoxicated males are about to leave the Iron Horse and may be heading to Newbury area. Caller did not wish to provide names. At least one of subjects is riding a Harley Davidson-type of motorcycle. Unknown about second motorcycle. Deputy advised. Deputies responded and could not locate described motorcycles.
SUSPICIOUS
June 21
7:25 a.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. Caller believes someone tried to burn his house down last night. Siding is burnt under a window. Report taken.
THEFT
June 17
10:56 a.m., Great Lakes Parkway, Troy. Catalytic converter stolen off the company van last night. Deputy advised of pending call. Report taken.
WEAPON OFFENSE
July 21
1:25 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Caller is mowing at cemetery next to Overlook Park and someone is shooting and the bullets are whizzing by. Coming from a house on 528. Deputy spoke with resident who advised he was shooting. He was told to make his backstop bigger.
