The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 2-8, 2022.

AGENCY ASSIST

Sept. 8

6:54 p.m., Rosewood Drive, Chardon. FBI is searching for an escaped federal inmate they believe may be on Rosewood. Meet agents at Big Creek Park and respond to Rosewood with them. Deputy did not have suspect’s information. Inmate wanted, cautions for drug abuse, escape, violent tendencies and firearms possession. 34-year-old white male, 606, 220, brown hair with grey eyes. On North Street checking area for suspect vehicle.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Sept. 7

10:34 a.m., Durkee Road, Huntsburg. Neighbor’s dogs are barking constantly. Caller has a wedding at the home this weekend and wants it to stop. He has spoken with neighbor previously and nothing happens. Deputy attempted to speak to the dog owner and no one was home. Called phone number at listed address and left message about the complaint.

11:31 a.m., Aspen Hills Lane, Burton. Neighbor’s turkeys are in her yard and she cannot pull the weeds. Caller was weeding by property line, under the fence. Neighbor’s turkeys were on the other side of fence and caller was worried she was going to get bit. Turkeys back in barn and were not on caller’s property. Caller told to call back if turkeys come on her property.

7:31 p.m., Aspen Hills Lane, Burton. Neighbor’s turkeys are in caller’s yard again. Deputy spoke with owner of turkeys who advised they will be gone tomorrow for slaughter. Turkeys were not on the property when deputy arrived.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Sept. 2

12:50 p.m., Orchard Road, Munson. Several Hispanic “dirty” males in area doing roofing work. Caller believes they are suspicious and “look illegal.” She would like them checked on and would like a call back from deputy. Advice given.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Sept. 2

11:48 a.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller is upset because News Channel 5 is on her property harassing her. They are in two white Subaru vehicles. 4-5 men now in one of the vehicles. Caller is with a liquidator company. They were “chasing” caller around the property and she does not know why they are there. Report taken.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Sept. 4

7:27 a.m., Kile Road, Montville. Female locked caller out. There are weapons in house, no drugs or alcohol. Caller is “in fear for his life” and states he is “afraid that she will stab” him in his sleep. Parties are separated. Caller said he would leave because it’s the best thing to do so things don’t escalate. Female on phone advising male “cornered” her and locked her out. Female arrested for DV and disorderly conduct.

DRUGS

Sept. 3

4:28 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Deputy located drugs at fairgrounds. Two females taken to jail.

HARASSMENT

Sept. 5

9:12 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Subjects from the Democratic booth came over to the Propane booth. Comments were made in presence of children. Democratic booth personnel were making comments, videotaping and being instigating us. This was going on all day. Subject was threatening us and using video to post on social media. He was an older male with red t-shirt. He had a bullhorn. The subject in the gray Kent State shirt was videotaping all day.

PHONE HARASSMENT

Sept. 5

5:45 p.m., Osmond Road, Burton. Male is getting harassed by a scammer over Snapchat after sending them a nude photo. They are asking money to blackmail caller for the photo. Caller would like to meet off property because he does not want his family to know. Complainant advised he met a girl on Instagram and after speaking with her some private photos were exchanged. Following this incident another profile contacted complainant asking for money or the photos would be posted online. Complainant advised it is a scam and advice given to ignore the requests for money and block the accounts.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 2

12:31 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Skinny white male with tattoos and baggy shorts and t-shirt asking to put new roof on houses. Left in his older van and ladder on top. Deputy advised. Area checked. UTL/GOA.

Sept. 3

11 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Co-worker has received a threatening letter from an inmate at LCSO and would like to speak to a deputy. Report taken.

3:31 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Black sedan driving in area. Caller spoke to occupants. Driver was Amish and unknown if licensed. Passenger was a Yankee. Area checked. Complainant stated Amish driver advised he was fleeing an abusive situation in southern Ohio. Male last seen driving down Jug at high rate of speed. UTL/GOA.

11:19 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. Caller stated about five lights in the sky. She is worried about it. Lights are coming from the fair.

Sept. 6

7:35 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Caller saw an Amish male on a tripod with a rifle. He appeared to be looking through a scope across the street. Male is in the pasture near OAR on Clay Street. Caller is worried the male will attempt to shoot across a roadway. Deputy spoke to male who advised he was scanning the field due to his gun having a night vision scope and not shooting. Deputy explained complaint. Male said he understood.

THEFT

Sept. 6

11:45 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Items stolen off the desk. Just happened. Unknown subject. Will check cameras. Troy Fire Department radio stolen. Report taken.

Sept. 7

3:45 p.m., Crestwood Road, Newbury. Stolen 9 MM and automotive tools. Caller gave a Ruger 9 MM handgun to her tenant for protection. Gun is missing and tenant does not know where it is.

Sept. 8

5:26 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female just left Dollar General after stealing a purse full of items. This is an ongoing problem with her. Employee has video of female. Deputies went to Jackson Drive to locate female who was arrested for theft and taken to jail.

THREATENING

Sept. 5

3:55 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Male got into accident in free parking of fairgrounds and now they are threatening him. Male has a child in car. Male and female in Nissan. Male from Nissan threatening to slit caller’s throat. Male caller stated he had a firearm in his vehicle.

6:12 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Threats and verbal assaults. Democratic tent.

TRAFFIC CRASH

Sept. 2

11:30 p.m., Hale Road, Burton. Car into front yard. Heard a crash, unknown what was hit. At least three people. Deputies responded. One male arrested and cited for OVI. Another male picked up by his brother. See report for further.

TRAFFIC STOP

Sept. 2

3:37 p.m., GAR Highway, Montville. Out on traffic stop. 56 mph no traffic. Coming up to 528. Continuing eastbound on 86. Passed Whitney. Slowing down. Stopped. One at gunpoint. Got driver out of car and securing. Jail will accept. Male arrested for failure to comply after pursuit and additional traffic charges.

VANDALISM

Sept. 4

11:08 p.m., Durkee Road, Middlefield. Caller reports someone is throwing tomatoes at the house and broke a window. See report.

Sept. 5

1:32 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Burton. Someone broke into the pole building and broke windows. Caller had his barn window smashed with a metal pole. Unknown when event took place. Appears no entry was made after window was damaged.
