True Christians
For those who call themselves Christians, who are celebrating the DeSantis/Abbott political stunt of transporting asylum-seeking migrants to liberal northern communities, shame on you!
How much clearer could Jesus have been when he told us in the book of Matthew:
“For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.”
And when asked, incredulously, by those on his left, when did we do this to you? Jesus replied, “‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
I mean, how much clearer could he have been in his expectations of the behavior of a true Christian?
This coming Sunday, every pastor, preacher and priest in Geauga County should be delivering a sermon on Matthew 25:31-40, with special focus on its relevance to the events of the week, reminding all their congregants of the responsibilities of true Christians to the poor, the homeless and all those in need.
Sadly, they won’t.
