Won’t You Not be My Neighbor

Our newly gerrymandered state Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur has proposed a bill to make any residential property available as an Air B&B. Probably only houses near the lake or a cabin in the woods would be affected right? Wrong! It’s any residential property and it overrides zoning. So, any house on your street will be available as a short-term rental.

Who might be interested in a two-week rental? How about drug or human traffickers? These guys probably tend to move around a lot.

How about a short-term hideout for some proud boys who could store a cache of guns and ammo?

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting that Fowler Arthur is endorsing this. All of these activities remain illegal. The difference is that now local law enforcement has one more dangerous headache to worry about. The extra cost of policing will be a local enforcement problem.

Worse with Fowler Arthur’s legislation, local communities won’t be permitted to zone the short-term rentals out of existence.

So why would Sarah Fowler Arthur propose such legislation? It appears Rep. Fowler Arthur is just one more self-serving politician. You see, she has an Air B&B rental property. Most folks spend years paying off their mortgage to live in a secure safe neighborhood. This bill will destroy what many folks worked hard for.

We need someone in the statehouse who is looking after the people’s interest not someone like Fowler Arthur who seems to be feathering her own nest.

Kilboy Best for OH-14

Dave Joyce seems to think that because a gerrymandered map has made his congressional seat secure for him, he is free to disregard promises to his constituents.

He has repeatedly failed to grasp that doing what is best for District 14 is more important than doing what is best for a national political party.

Joyce voted “NO” to the idea of giving Ohioans who live in rural areas access high-speed internet. He voted “NO” to rebuild Ohio’s roads. He voted “NO” to prevent gasoline price gouging; “NO” to provide emergency shelter for victims of abuse; “NO” to prevent gender-based pay discrimination; “NO” to protect our kids; “NO” to affordable insulin; “NO” to address the infant formula shortage; “NO” to fund cybersecurity to safeguard America’s energy grid; “NO” to upgrade America’s drinking water systems; “NO” on measures to prevent domestic terrorism; “NO” to protect the right of married couples’ access to contraceptives; “NO” to lower healthcare costs for seniors; and “NO” for the inflation reduction.

Voters must choose a candidate in November who holds to the belief of “District First.” We have a right to expect our elected officials to be our voice in Washington, knowing that no one else will.

Navy veteran Matt Kilboy understands that doing what is best for District 14 is all that matters. Matt will vigorously represent the district and is deserving of our support. Vote to elect Matt Kilboy to Congress for the sake of OH-14.

Support, Don’t Kick

A sign at 17477 Chillicothe Road gloats: “Border of Marthas Vinyard (sic) is Secure.”

Powerful officials unleashed public resources in efforts that disoriented vulnerable migrants for political gain. People were imported from Texas to Florida, provided with false addresses and abandoned in Martha’s Vineyard.

People in need should be supported, not kicked.

God Bless the Honor Guard

Words fail to adequately express the honor, the dignity, the grace and the respect that was displayed by the Honor Guard from the Burton American Legion Atwood Mauck Post 459 and the Army Honor Guard at the funeral of W. Raymond Hietanen, my beloved grandfather.

The recognition of grandpa’s life and his service to our country brought comfort and peace to me and my family.

Thank you all for your service to our country and your continued dedication to honoring veterans. You do not forget them and we will not forget you!
