The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 21-27, 2022.
AGENCY ASSIST
Oct. 21
5:40 p.m., Moseley Road, Thompson. Madison requesting assistance with runaway juvenile and stolen guns. Officers already on scene. Two stolen firearms from house. Suspects involved are juveniles. One juvenile is related to Madison PD runaway from earlier in day.
ANIMAL PROBLEMS
Oct. 21
5:11 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Across from Geauga Door there are two cows in the ditch. They looked scared. Area was checked and cows were not located. Deputy spoke with owner who was walking in the area looking for them as well. Area checked and deputy did not locate them.
5:29 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Caller states neighbors’ two dogs have attacked the cattle on the property and are being aggressive toward his wife.
FRAUD
Oct. 23
2:54 p.m., Quinn Road, Auburn. Caller was scammed out of $4,500, someone claiming to be Huntington Bank. Two Zelle transactions are in the process of clearing tomorrow. Caller has tried to cancel them but is unable to and needs an incident report for Huntington. Caller also advised to call Huntington customer service and local branch to possibly stop transaction from completing.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 22
8:17 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Caller states there is a male with a wooden bat at the haunted house hitting the pavement. Caller concerned because this male exited the haunted house, went to a vehicle, retrieved a bat and began striking the ground with it as he returned to the haunted house. Sergeant spoke with complainant who was concerned about an individual taking a wooden bat into the event. While on the phone with her, male walked out and it was apparent he was an actor who was greeting individuals at the gate and taking photos with them.
Oct. 23
12:26 p.m., Bean Road, Munson. Someone friended her 21-year-old autistic son on Facebook and was sending explicit requests to him. Spoke with complainant and son. Older male trying to communicate over Facebook Messenger. Parents have blocked the male and he does not have any personal information on the son.
Oct. 24
6:21 a.m., Knotty Pine Lane, Hambden. Caller says someone with a mask on dropped something off on their front porch. Caller is not expecting any Amazon packages. Caller says it was black face covering and person took a photo of what he dropped off. Caller does not feel sage checking to see if it is an Amazon package. Deputy advised. Caller called back to say it was an Amazon package, after someone else in the house went and checked on it.
Oct. 27
5:14 p.m., Zrolka Drive, Huntsburg. Someone is sending caller packages through Amazon including stilettos and lingerie. Caller reported she has been receiving suspicious packages from Amazon over past few days. She has received seven pairs of stilettos and one bra. Packages are in her name but she has not ordered these items. Caller reported suspicious packages to Amazon and was advised an account was opened in her name with her phone number but no other information. Caller was unable to close the account because her credit card was not being used for the fraudulent account. No suspicious activity in credit reports. No suspects at this time.
THEFT
Oct. 27
10:06 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller parked his truck at House of Nagy last night and someone broke in and stole several items. Report taken.
THREATENING
Oct. 21
4:03 p.m., Nash Road, Troy. Complainant has been receiving threatening and harassing telephone calls from a female in Pennsylvania who believes her husband is having an affair with complainant. Complainant would like extra patrol given to her residence.
