The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 21-27, 2023.
BURGLARY
April 26
6:02 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Son took everything out of the bedroom while I was at work. He doesn’t have a key, so he had to break in through the roof. The window board is kicked in. He has truck but it’s in the driveway. He stole stuff out of the garage yesterday.
CITIZEN ASSIST
April 24
6:29 p.m., Meadowwood Drive, Claridon. Caller’s parents are refusing to give him his birth certificate and his Social Security card. Caller is 20. Made contact with mother who was irate son contacted GCSO. Arrangements made to turn property over to GCSO tomorrow. Caller said he would pick the documents up from there.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
April 21
7:23 p.m., Punderson Road, Newbury. Caller in lobby to report issues with their neighbor. He tried to run them over with his truck and has put up cameras facing their property. Incident occurred on Grandview Drive. Report taken.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
April 23
2:47 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Mother has daughter on her cell account and $120 is deducted from a joint account for the phone which is agreed upon. Mother is co-signer for daughter’s vehicle. Daughter pays on her own versus having mom take the car money from the joint account. Mom took $550 to pay off the balance of the phone but also took extra money out to cover the car payment. Car payments were not agreed upon. Responding officer suggested mother put back the car money since the phone money was consented but the car money was not. Mother advised to consult with an attorney over the financial issue. Not a domestic.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
April 23
11:45 a.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Caller’s partner got into an argument with her today because she went out Friday night without him. Punched out her car mirror and tried to hit her. Caller en route to GCSO to make a report. Caller claiming only a verbal altercation today, no injuries. He does have guns in bedroom. One arrested.
FRAUD
April 26
8:34 p.m., Country Oaks Trail, Munson. Caller sent $200 on CashApp to purchase a scooter. After the money was paid, seller blocked her. See report.
ROAD RAGE
April 26
10:35 a.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Erratic driver passing double yellow, was confronted. Driver smashed caller’s driver-side window. He then took off northbound on Tavern. He is driving a silver Chevy Cruze. Suspect is white male, maybe upper 20s, wearing a beanie gray in color, with a beard, wearing a t-shirt. After he smashed the window he pulled the license plate off his vehicle. Argument started on 422 when he was tailgating and driving erratically. Report taken.
SUSPICIOUS
April 22
12:01 a.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Kids throwing paintballs at caller’s trailer. Two kids walking in camo and jeans. Caller northbound on 528. Caller advised when he was driving on 528 near Pioneer, he observed two males walking in camo jackets and jeans throw something at his truck. He pulled over and observed a white paint mark on the driver side of his trailer. He then drove south on 528 toward Pioneer and again saw the two kids and they threw another object at trailer. Caller pulled over and called 911. Upon arrival, deputy checked are, UTL/GOA. White liquid on trailer was coming off in the rain. Believe it was struck with an egg. No damage reported.
April 23
11:48 a.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Caller believes for the past few years his family has been sending him “subliminal messages.” Caller reported he found a “camera” in a wood screw in his home. Advice given.
THEFT
April 24
9:58 a.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Would like to report he had two boats stolen in 2020. Report taken.
April 26
6:12 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Contact was made with complainant who advised on July 14, 2021, he purchased a 1952 Berk Ross Mickey Mantle baseball card through eBay. He never received the card via FedEx. He stated he eventually was refunded his money through PWCC Auctions of $11,300. A few days ago, complainant located the same baseball card for sale through an auction house in Dallas. Complainant is reporting the auction house is selling stolen merchandise and he is claiming ownership of the card due to him purchasing the card back in 2021. Complainant states the card being sold has the same certificate number of authenticity, which he states means the card is the same as the one he bought. Complainant provided a report number to contact the local authorities in Dallas along with the auction house that is selling the card. Was also advised to contact an attorney for civil litigation into who the rightful owner is of the card.
THREATENING
April 21
6:37 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Male was released from jail today and was escorted earlier to get his belongings from his home. Caller advising there is a no contact order in place. She received a threatening letter from him today that was mailed to her mother’s house while he was in jail. See report.
April 27
9:11 a.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Ex-boyfriend is threatening caller to take money via social media, stated if caller doesn’t send him money he’s going to release her information to a hacker. No threats to cause to anyone were made. Advice given. Civil matter.
