Michael McKennan Richardson

Michael McKennan Richardson, age 51, of Chardon, passed away May 21, 2023, in Anthem, Ariz., due to a service-related illness.

Born Aug. 13, 1971, to David McKennan and Helen (nee Kanuk) Richardson, he had been living in the house he built in Chardon with his wife Lori for over 20 years.

Mike was a firefighter/paramedic 1st Class with Euclid Fire Department for 25 years and cherished his fire department brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Lori (nee Malinas) Richardson, of Chardon; fur babies Porter and Josie; mother, Helen Richardson, of Lyndhurst; mother-in-law, Donnie Malinas, of Hamden Township; brother, Nate (Alexis) Richardson, of Mayfield Heights; sister, Susan Cocita, of Lyndhurst; brother-in-law, Rick Malinas (Becky), of Concord Township; nieces Melissa (Joe) Kassouf, Maria Cocita and Maddy Malinas; nephews, Anthony Cocita and Jacob Malinas; and godson, Cody Brower.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Richardson; father-in-law, Dick Malinas; and many beloved fur babies.

Mike loved hunting, especially his trips with his brother-in-law Rick out west, fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed golf and worked out every day. He loved being in his home and taking meticulous care of his lawn.

Along with Lori, he loved rescuing dogs and has had many over the years.

Mike loved spending time at their cabin in Pennyslvania with friends and family, and was affectionately known as “Uncle Mike” by everyone.

A memorial procession with Mike’s body will begin around 10:40 a.m. June 16, 2023, and work its way from Meadowlands Drive (Walmart parking lot) in Chardon, around the square to St. Mary Parish, 401 North St., Chardon, where calling hours will begin at 11 a.m. and go until the funeral service at 1 p.m.

A time of sharing stories will begin following the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the St. Mary Banquet Hall.

Mike will be laid to rest in a private family setting.
