L Helen Koritansky

L. Helen Koritansky (nee James), age 99, of Hambden Township, died at her home on June 8, 2023.

Born Aug. 8, 1923, in Stromness, Ontario, Canada, to John and Jessie (nee Hall) James, she lived most of her life in Hambden.

Helen was a longtime volunteer with Geauga County Department on Aging, Geauga County Board of Elections and the Geauga Hospital Auxillary. She also served for several years as the president of the Chardon PTA.

She worked for USDA ASCS from 1964 until her retirement in 1984.

Helen enjoyed the farm and especially spending time with her sons and grandchildren and also enjoyed lunches with her close friends.

Survivors include her sons, John Koritansky and Robert (Carol) Koritansky, both of Hambden; grandchildren, Edie (Patrick) Joyce, Peter (Pam) Koritansky, Gale Koritansky and Tom Koritansky; and great-grandchildren, John, Charles and Audrey Joyce, Matthew, Eva, Joseph and John Koritansky, and Theodore “Teddy” and Elliott Canales.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Koritansky, in 2001; parents; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Koritansky; and brother, W. Arthur Maines.

The family will receive friends June 15, 2023, from 3-5 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, followed by the funeral service at 5 p.m.

Private family burial will be at Hambden Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made to the Hambden Township Fire Department, 9867 Old State Road, Chardon, OH 44024.
