The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 9-16, 2023.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

June 11

11:29 p.m., Stonegate Drive, Munson. Large black snake in caller’s kitchen on the floor. Snake has moved to living room. Snake was removed from home and released into woods.

BURGLARY

June 11

10:14 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. Someone was in their home. Took off on foot out the door. Caller was sitting in living room and noticed a subject peek around the living room door frame that leads to screen porch. Subject wearing white. Callers also advised the subject got into their car. Took off into the woods next to the home about seven minutes ago. Caller was thinking maybe it was a subject that had taken off from a crash. See report.

FRAUD

June 9

11:56 a.m., Hart Road, Montville. Complainant advised he accidentally clicked on a pop-up ad and had his computer hacked. He already has contacted all of his financial institutions and they locked his accounts. He believes his wife’s SSN was compromised. Advice given, no financial loss at this time. IR provided.

June 12

12:55 p.m. (Property Address Redacted). 20-year-old male sent nude photograph of himself through Instagram last night. An individual demanded he send them $250 or they were going to send photo to his family members and contact law enforcement because the subject receiving the photo was a minor. Male sent subject money through Zelle. Subjects now requesting more money. Complainant advised not to send more money to subject and that it was a scam. Complainant already filed report with Instagram. Complainant advised to block the subject on Instagram and not to send more money.

June 13

1:24 p.m., North Pintail Drive, Auburn. Complainant advertised an item for sale. Suspect sent a check for more than the agreed amount asking complainant to send the remainder to his “sister” in Wisconsin. IR provided for complainant and bank.

PURSUIT

June 14

7:38 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Attempting to stop a dark blue car northbound on 528/166. 90 mph, blew the stop sign. Let Madison know dark tinted windows, possibly blue Honda Civic. Approaching Thompson Square. Northbound from square, speed and light traffic, 100 mph going to the county line. Madison is at 528 and River Street. Madison can get sticks out. He’s getting up to I-90. Madison is behind him now. Lost pursuit westbound 84 in the village. Deputy states a truck driver saw the male, white male, mid 20s, goatee.       

SUSPICIOUS

June 9

5:15 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Male from out of state asking people to sign petitions. Circle K would like him to be made to leave. Deputy advised male he was not welcome to solicit on the property and he immediately put the petition away and said he would call for a ride to leave. Management was OK with him waiting for a ride.

June 10

10:40 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield. Large underage drinking party, over 100 people, very loud. Large party was dispersed and one male was arrested on warrants.

June 12

9:57 p.m., Bean Road, Munson. Complainant advised alcohol bottles in his home are empty. He does have juveniles who reside in the home. Complainant advised he should speak to the members of his home to see if anyone drank the liquor and was further advised to lock the liquor up to prevent anyone from drinking it.

THEFT

June 13

10:11 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Ears buds stolen from car while he was at gas station. Complainant currently at work and states ear buds are pinging in Columbiana. Information passed along to that jurisdiction. Report will be updated when further information is available. Deputy requesting officer go to the address on Harbour Lights Boulevard and check for ear buds. Beaver Township will go to home and ask. Ear buds located. Beaver will contact complainant.

THREATENING

June 12

2:52 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Township office received an obscene handwritten postcard that speaks that one of the trustees should resign. Postcard was “off the wall,” quoting scripture. Trustee stated she wanted it documented. Not overly concerned with letter.

VANDALISM

June 15, 2023 8:49 a.m., Hillview Road, Newbury. Caller woke up and there are multiple construction cones in her driveway and one on top of her car. Traffic cones blocking driveway and on car. No damage to any property. Appears to be a prank. Caller just wanted to let GCSO know about cones in case someone calls looking for cones.
