The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 19-25, 2023.

CITIZEN ASSIST

May 22

12:36 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Paid $10,000 for car to be fixed and caller is not happy that her car wasn’t fixed properly and caller is saying she owes $1,600 and doesn’t want to pay. Civil issue, resolved.

May 24

12:12 a.m., Hotchkiss Road, Newbury. Caller was hired as an Amish driver and believes the employer may be involved in some shady business between Middlefield and Youngstown. The owner has his transporting people back and forth, everyone is paid in cash, and he can’t be operating a credible business operating with cash only. Caller just wanted it documented and stated he does not work for the employer anymore. Also stated he is unsure of employer’s last name or if it is even his real name.

May 25

7:49 p.m., Burlington Glen Drive, Munson. Caller is manager of Chardon business. He advised an elderly female was in the store yesterday trying to send cashier’s checks through FedEx next day to someone in California. Caller thought she was being scammed and asked her if this was legit and she got quiet and seemed nervous. Caller requested GCSO try to make contact with female to ensure she is not being scammed and offer assistance if needed. Under investigation.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

May 20

8:44 p.m., Stafford Road, Auburn. Caller advising her female friend is being physically attacked by her boyfriend. Female is locked in bedroom. Caller is Facetiming female. No weapons in the home that she is aware of. I can hear a lot of screaming. Once male knew officers were coming he sat down on the bed and would not say anything or leave the female. Caller watching this on Facetime. Male arrested for DV and disorderly conduct.

FRAUD

May 22

5:07 p.m., Winterberry Lane, Munson. Bought $3,500 in gift cards from Giant Eagle online. When the male went to use them, the cards had been cashed. Bought the gift cards online and withing 48 hours they were used. Complainant is going to email some documents. Under investigation.

HARASSMENT

May 19

2:24 p.m., White Oak Drive, Auburn. Package delivered to her house on May 5 at 2 p.m. Incident occurred at OU. Complainant was referred to the local jurisdiction where she was residing when the glitter bomb was delivered to her on May 4.

May 22

7:29 p.m., Regal Place, Auburn. Caller states she’s tired of walking down the street and the neighbor swerves toward her. Tan SUV. Caller also advised her neighbor called in a false report for an underage party last week. Caller stated it is an ongoing issue with neighbor and other neighbors as well. Caller requested incident be documented and was advised the process to file a CPO.

OVERDOSE

May 21

3:04 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. 37-year-old possible OD. Drug of choice is crack cocaine. She’s in the basement. She is breathing. Unknown how long she’s been down, it’s been about an hour since caller saw her. There is a crack pipe near her. Yellow snot coming out of her nose. Staff and overdose page sent.

9:04 p.m., North Woods Circle, Chardon. 40-year-old male possible overdose on meth. Male is speaking and on 911 he’s asking for help. Male states his heart is racing. Labored breathing. Male states there could be meth in his Twisted Tea. Overdose team. See report.

SUSPICIOUS

May 22

3:04 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller’s mailbox is full of popped popcorn and she is concerned something else is inside so she does not want to clean it out until a deputy looks.

THEFT

May 20

12:26 p.m., Valentine Road. Thompson. Stolen S&W gun revolver and the gun safe, stolen sometime from Dec. 22 to May 20, 2023. Next door neighbor was watching the property while they were out of town. Information obtained.

May 22

1:49 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Theft of headstone, unknown date and time. Caller wanted to report his brother’s headstone was stolen from gravesite at Maple Hill Cemetery. Information obtained for report. Incident under investigation.
