The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 12-18, 2023.

AGENCY ASSIST

May 18

10:33 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Three miles southeast of Middlefield airport a laser was aimed at an aircraft. Shanks Down Road in Portage County. Air traffic control is requesting we check our area. Deputy checked surrounding area. UTL/GOA.

CITIZEN ASSIST

May 13

1:58 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Male in GCSO lobby. Wants to speak with a deputy regarding a traffic stop that was conducted by Bainbridge PD. Wished to file a police report regarding a Bainbridge PD officer who stopped him. Believes the officer was driving “illegally” when attempting to catch up with him and wished to file a criminal complaint. He was advised it was not a criminal issue and to talk with Bainbridge PD’s supervisor to file a complaint.

May 15

7:36 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller believes her 17-year-old daughter took two bottles of wine. Caller is not sure when the bottles were removed from house. Caller will not give her name and wants to speak with a deputy for advice. Deputy called unknown female who said she could not talk. She was advised to call back when ready.

8:16 p.m., West Park Street, Burton. Complainant livers on Mumford Road and is reporting she found a GPS tracker in her trunk. She advised she recently had a breakup and advised he has not been harassing her or showing up to places she frequents. Deputy made contact with ex and he advised he has no knowledge of the tracker. At time of report, unknown where tracker came from. Tracker was collected and submitted into evidence.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

May 16

8:29 a.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Complainant made a post on Meanwhile in Geauga calling a person’s house the “crack house.” Then person messaged complainant confronting her about the comment made. The two went back and forth with each other, but no threats made. Advice given. Complainant called back to advise she received another message now threatening her children. See report.

FRAUD

May 15

9:56 a.m., Betty Lou Drive, Middlefield. Received fraud calls from JFS stating they needed to speak to her and fill out a paperwork packet. Caller stated the male said he was coming to the house on May 13 and caller is concerned. Responding deputy contacted JFS and they do not send out unsolicited packets. Caller did not fall for the scam and wanted it reported. Number appears to be spoofed.

INFO REPORT

May 13

10:26 a.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Ongoing property line dispute. Caller wished to have neighbor spoken to about cutting grass over the property line. Neighbor was advised and claimed she did not know she had cut over the property line. She advised she would be more careful and it won’t happen again. She also was advised criminal charges could result in future.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

May 12

4:58 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Caller is stating people who were staying at her house and were evicted superglued her doors, took the children’s toys, turned the heat to 90, the chickens are missing. Caller stating people no longer there. Caller advised it was a civil issue.

RV PROBLEM

May 13

3:25. P.m., Henning Drive, Chardon. Several ATVs and dirt bikes racing up and down the road. This has been going on for about a month. Caller is upset and tried to confront them. Riders gave him the bird. He is out there trying to get video. Deputy watched video and spoke with a resident at end of street who advised it was not her child and he was not home. Deputy advised her of the consequences if one of the children is caught riding in the street.

SUSPICIOUS

May 12

8:03 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Hambden. Two teenagers wearing camo and holding rifles, loading things into a minivan. The two young men were getting ready to head to Pennsylvania for an airsoft tournament.

May 15

7:43 a.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller states looks like homeless people in the gazebo with tents and bikes set up. Across the street from town hall at corner. Subjects checks fine. They will be leaving shortly.

May 17

5:19 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Found a tracker in her car, she knows who put it there. Caller explained she thinks her ex-boyfriend put a tracker in her car. Deputy spoke to the boyfriend who admitted to it. Caller did not want any charges and was glad to know who it was.

THREATENING

May 13

9:22 a.m., Shaw Road, Auburn. Male complainant says his son is threatening him. Firearms are locked up. Complainant and his son got into a verbal argument over son not helping around the house. During the argument, father stated son threatened him. Father advised he was not scared of son and did not want to purse criminal charges. Son left prior to deputies arrival. Deputy spoke with son on the phone and he denied making threats. Documentation only at this time.

May 14

9:32 a.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Male is upset over his food order at restaurant on the square and he is starting a fight. Yelling at another customer. Male tried to order a special and he is irate he had to pay for extra food not the special. Restaurant wants to make sure he never comes into the restaurant again. Report taken and male is trespassed from property.

TOBACCO PROBLEM

May 15

1:23 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. IR requested for tobacco problem at Berkshire Schools campus. Citation issued.

TRAFFIC CRASH

May 12

7:52 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Female backed into caller’s motorcycle. People are trying to keep her from leaving. Female went back into restaurant and employees ae with her and moved her car, took the keys. One female arrested and transported to jail.

TRAFFIC STOP

May 12

2:52 p.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. A juvenile was issued a citation for 78 mph in a 45 mph zone.
