Jack E. Richardson
Jack E. Richardson, age 82, of Burton, went home to the Lord on Sept. 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, and the Lord said, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Jack was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Cleveland, to the late Oliver T. and Violet M. (nee Monroe) Richardson.
He graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1959 and went to work as a letter carrier for Chagrin Falls Post Office, where he worked for 45 years.
Jack married the love of his life, Alice “Marlene” Thomas, on June 10, 1967.
He was a member of the Fellowship City Church in Bainbridge Township.
Jack truly lived life to the fullest. He was always present and never missed an opportunity to watch his children or grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. A wave from the stands to always let them know he was there and rooting them on in all they did.
Jack loved to make people laugh and was never one to take things too seriously. You could often find him playing with his grandchildren whether it be cards or backyard volleyball.
He enjoyed walks and bible study, traveling with his wife and family, hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening and even panning for gold. Although he never “struck it rich,” he was blessed beyond measure with a family that loved and adored him.
He will be sadly missed but remembered always by his loving wife of 56 years, Alice “Marlene” Richardson; and children, Paul (Rita) Richardson, of Auburn Township, Sheryl (Mike) Downs, of Mantua, Katie Badovick, of Garrettsville; grandchildren, Hannah (Andrew) Miura, Emily Richardson, Sarah (Thomas) Benenati, Allison, Kelsey and Natalie Downs, Ella and Jack Badovick.
He also will be missed by his siblings, Les Richardson, of Kansas, Judy (Don) Anderson, of Chagrin Falls, Ron Richardson of South Russell Village, Wendy (Elia) Milite, of Chester Township; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Dixie Richardson, of Middlefield, Dale Patterson, of Burton, Roy (Jacci) Thomas, of Arizona, Mary Lou Wolf, of Streetsboro, Laurie (Forrest) McGowan, of Burton.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Richardson; sister-in-law Connie Richardson; brother in law Dan Patterson; and his in-laws, Roy and Lorraine Thomas.
A celebration of his life will be held Oct. 14, 2023, from 2-5 p.m., at Veterans Legacy Woods (formerly Wicked Woods), 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury Township.
