Donald Melvin Knaack
Donald “Don” Melvin Knaack, age 85, of Mentor, peacefully passed away Sept. 24, 2023.
He was born on July 9, 1938, to Carl and Gladys (nee Kohout) Knaack, in Cleveland.
Don was a proud U.S. veteran. He was a purchasing manager for Eltech Systems Corp. before retiring 1994.
Don married Sandra Kay (nee Hotko) Knaack on Oct. 3, 1964. They lived in Warrensville Heights and shortly thereafter moved to Mentor. They were married for over 30 years before Sandra preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Bower) Knaack; two children, Kevin (Connie) Knaack and Kerri (David) Graczyk; grandchildren, Justin Graczyk, Brett Graczyk, Natalie Knaack, Madylin Knaack, Michael (Jill) Miller and Alexandra Miller; great-grandchildren, Logan Christopher Miller and Miles Joseph Miller; brother Bruce (Pat) Knaack; and several nieces and nephews.
Don is also preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gladys Knaack; brother Robert (Linda) Knaack; and grandson Christopher Miller.
Don will be remembered for his love of sports and family.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Oct. 2, 2023, from 4-6 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 3, 2023, at All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Road, Chardon Township.
