Edwin Dale Jackson
Edwin Dale Jackson, age 84, of Burton, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Dec. 28, 2024.
He was born to Donald “Mike” and Francis Jackson on Dec. 21, 1940, in Troy Township.
Ed was married to his high school sweetheart, Alberta “Birdie” for 64 beautiful years. They married on June 18, 1960.
He graduated from Newbury High School in 1958. He was president of his senior class, played football and was homecoming king. He was also a member of the Newbury Jaycees.
Ed worked at Jackson Lumber and Fence his entire life until retirement. He was president of the company for over 35 years.
Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the NRA, White Tails Unlimited, Safari Club International and a life member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He served as chairman and volunteered at the Elk banquet for many years. He was also an usher for over 30 years and life member of St Helen’s Church.
Ed is proceeded in death by his parents, Donald and Francis; brother, Donald; sister, Jean; and other family members who passed too soon.
Ed is survived by his wife, Alberta “Birdie;” children, Mike (Toni) Jackson, Todd (Kim) Jackson, Joe (Tina) Jackson, Lori Jackson (Crea); eight grandchildren (12 including spouses); and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family to celebrate Edwin’s life on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, from 4-8 p.m., at Sly Funeral Home 15670 W. High St., Middlefield.
A funeral service will be on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.
