The Middlefield Fire Department will have new state-of-the-art radios at its disposal after receiving a $45,700 grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation.
“This grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation will have a tremendous impact on our ability to serve the community,” Fire Chief Bill Reed said in a Dec. 23 press release. “Effective communication is the backbone of any successful emergency response and these new radios will help us provide faster, more coordinated service to Middlefield, Huntsburg and the surrounding areas.”
Lt. Aric Anderson, who recognized the critical need to update the department’s radio systems, spearheaded the grant application process.
“We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” said Anderson. “With the support of the Gary Sinise Foundation, we’ll be able to ensure our firefighters are equipped with reliable technology, enhancing their safety and improving our overall response capabilities.”
Barbara Titus, who, on behalf of the Gary Sinise Foundation, was instrumental in bringing MFD’s needs to the foundation’s attention, the release stated. By championing the department’s request, Titus helped secure the vital funding for this essential communications equipment.
The Gary Sinise Foundation, founded by actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise, honors defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. Through its various programs and grants, the foundation supports organizations and communities nationwide, enhancing safety and preparedness in the face of emergencies, according to the release.
