Deborah Susan Durey
Deborah “Debbie” Susan Durey, age 72, of Thompson Township, passed away on Aug. 2, 2025, at Ohman Family Living at Blossom in Huntsburg Township.
Born on Feb. 22, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, Debbie was known for her kindness, infectious laugh and colorful expressions.
She was a proud graduate of Willoughby South High School (Class of 1971) and spent over 15 years working for the American Cancer Society, where she made several lifelong friends. She later worked and retired from Lake Geauga Head Start.
Debbie was an avid reader, often reading several books a week. She also found joy in gardening, spending time with her family and taking trips to her favorite city, Charleston, S.C.
Debbie is survived by her dedicated husband of 34 years, Robert F. Durey; her children, Daniel (Jennifer) Gigliotti, Thomas (Joanne) Gigliotti, Laura (Thomas) Ray and Jessica (Benjamin) Fleenor; siblings David (Julie) Thomas, Daniel (Theresa) Thomas and Timothy (Elaine) Thomas; and grandchildren, Chloe Gigliotti, Jenna Gigliotti, Dominic Gigliotti, Brooklyn Ray and Vince Ray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dorothy (nee Baxter) Thomas; and siblings Kenny and Gwendolyn Thomas.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date with details to be determined.
