Hearts for Hazen
During their match versus Riverside, Chardon girls volleyball held its “Hearts for Hazen” fundraiser in honor of the late Jeff Hazen. Through the event, proceeds were collected to support scholarships for at least two Chardon seniors who plan to enter the trades post-graduation.
The fundraiser, which included the sale of gift baskets and treats, ultimately collected over $6,000.
Thank you to all who came out and supported the scholarships, which will be presented in Jeff’s memory during the CHS Senior Awards Night.
Community Helpers
Throughout September, Chardon Early Learning Center learned all about community helpers. One of the community helpers, Dr. Noonan, spoke with students about being a veterinarian.
Students used their senses to try to figure out what Dr. Noonan had in her “feely boxes,” which included a stethoscope, dental tools and a post-surgery collar. Students looked at X-ray images of pets who swallowed items and tried to guess what they swallowed. They also put on scrubs and gloves to practice bandaging their stuffed animals.
