William Joseph Gibson Sr.

William Joseph Gibson Sr., known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, departed from this life on Oct. 26, 2025, at the age of 89.

Bill was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran who carried the values of honor, courage and commitment throughout his life.

He retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, after many years of dedicated service.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; brother Richard; and sister Terry.

Bill is survived by his ex-wife and long-time friend, Beverly Gibson; daughters, Laura and Brenda; son, William Gibson Jr.; sisters Mary, Viola, Judy and Bonnie; as well as his youngest brother, Robert. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Crystal (Army Brat), Brooke, Billy, Skye, Cori, Cody and Emily; and 13 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

Bill’s passions were simple but deeply fulfilling. He loved anything involving family and could often be found enjoying his favorite sport teams, fishing, boating or hunting in the great outdoors. He took pride in making maple syrup and cherished visits with friends. If you asked Bill about his favorite pastime, the answer was always the same: fishing.
Once a Marine, always a Marine, Bill’s devotion to the USMC remained steadfast throughout his life.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Chardon Municipal Cemetery, 201 Park Ave., Chardon, Ohio, followed by a celebration of life from 2-4 p.m. at Hambden Township Hall, 13887 GAR Highway.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to his country and his love of the simple pleasures in life. Semper Fi
