The Geauga County Department on Aging continued its long-standing tradition of providing Christmas meals to seniors who are home alone during the holidays.
On Christmas morning, select staff members and their families gathered at the Chardon Senior Center around 8 a.m. to prepare and organize warm meals for delivery. Volunteers arrived around 10 a.m. to pick up meals for homebound seniors, offering not only a hot holiday meal but also a friendly visit. Community response was so strong that organizers reached capacity, with 55 volunteers participating this year.
The Inn at The Pines Assisted Living and Memory Care donated goodie bags filled with treats, while Gurney Elementary School students contributed handmade Christmas cards to accompany each meal. Approximately 125 seniors received meals made possible through support from community partners, including catering by Ohman Family Living at Holly and sponsorship from the Chardon VFW and Ohman Family Living.
