Delores Mae McNish

Following high school, Dee pursued a career in nursing, completing post-graduate training at Mount Sinai Hospital and Case Western Reserve University. She served as class president at Mount Sinai, a reflection of her natural leadership.
Dee began her nursing career at Geauga Hospital, where she worked from 1960 to 1980. From 1980 until her retirement in 2014, she served as Director of Nursing at four nursing homes, including her time with CareCorp, an experience she greatly valued.
Dee married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” McNish, in 1960. Together they shared many years of partnership and community involvement until Dick’s passing in 2007.
She was a devoted mother to her three sons, Daniel, Kenneth and Scott, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Dee is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Community service was central to Dee’s life. She was actively involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, alongside her brother Gene, and served as a 4-H advisor for many years, earning the Outstanding Advisor Award from the state of Ohio. She was also deeply involved in girls’ baseball for many years.
Dee was a creative spirit and entrepreneur, co-owning three craft shops in Chardon with her dear friend Elaine Young, with plenty of help from their husbands and children. She also had a lifelong love of square dancing, actively participating with the Greasy Hubs.
Dee and Dick served as club presidents for many years and she proudly coached 4-H square dance groups that won the state competition three times—an achievement that brought her immense joy and pride.
Dee lived a full and meaningful life, grounded in family, service, leadership and friendship. As she often believed—life is good.
