Students Train for Auto Careers

Through a partnership with Preston Auto Superstore at the Berkshire Workforce Development Campus (BWDC), Berkshire Local Schools is helping students gain the real-world skills and experience necessary to obtain in-demand jobs in the automotive industry. The Mechanical Technician Pathway features a two-year Ford Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program that emphasizes a hands-on learning approach using real tools and equipment in an authentic auto dealer environment. Students gain in-depth training and real-world experience designed to prepare graduates for immediate entry into the automotive workforce. Information about this pathway and 15 additional career fields is available on the district’s Workforce Development Pathways page.

Educator Earns Nomination

Ashley Brzozowski, Berkshire High School intervention and transition to work coordinator, has been nominated for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding K-12 educators and school district employees nationwide for excellence, leadership and positive impact on students.

Brzozowski was nominated anonymously for her unwavering dedication to supporting students with disabilities and expanding vocational education opportunities for underserved populations. She spearheaded the creation of the Badger Print Lab, a hands-on program offering students real-world experience in printing, design, production and retail.

The lab, launched in the 2024–25 school year, provides paid internships with local businesses, including Great Lakes Growers and Domino’s Pizza, alongside partnerships with Kent State University, helping students build independence, confidence and career readiness. Brzozowski is now focused on growing the program and securing funding for Rise Up retail industry credentials, enabling students to earn nationally recognized certifications that are vital for workforce success.

Her commitment to students extends beyond the classroom through a long-standing tradition of hosting an annual Rotary fishing event, providing students who have disabilities with opportunities to connect with nature and build lasting memories. Previously, Brzozowski was honored as Career Technical Professional of the Year by the Ohio ACTE Special Needs Division. She continues to be a champion for students and an inspiring leader in education.
