Janet Edith Davis

She was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Edith Isabel (nee Johnson) and Alexander Celkirk McDonald Sr.
Jan was a 1951 graduate of Brush High School.
In 1952, she married Walter James Davis and together they proudly raised four sons in their forever home. Jan crocheted and made sure that each of her family members had an Afghan blanket. She baked delicious apple pies from scratch and delivered them to her friends and family.
Jan had an eye for antiques and would often be found at yard sales. She loved to garden and bird watch, often with a good cup of coffee and some sort of chocolate.
Jan was strong-willed and her optimistic attitude always prevailed; her strong faith was admired by many. She was a member of the Christ Presbyterian Church of Chesterland, where she was involved in Bible Study.
Jan worked at the Saint Dennis Golf Club as the “lunch lady,” enjoying visiting golfers and team members alike. She was also a member of a book club and played in card clubs with her lady friends.
She enjoyed old-time Western movies, telling fun facts of the actors and knew almost every line to all the movies. She was a great storyteller; her favorite topic were her boys and all the antics and fun they had growing up.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, Walter; her son Jay Todd Davis; and two sisters, Martha Bennett and Dolores Jahn.
Survivors include her three sons Jeffrey A. Davis, of Jacksonville, N.C., W. James (Tammy) Davis Jr., of Hamden Township, Ohio, and Jerry (Jamie) Davis, of Burton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Ryan, Benjamin, Chad, Tara, T.J. and Jesse; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, 12419 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery later.
