Ernest Matthew House
Ernest Matthew House, 47, of Eastlake, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on Feb. 28, 2026.
Ernie was born Oct. 21, 1978, in Chardon, Ohio, the son of Russ and Janice (nee Butler) House.
He was a 1997 graduate of Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio.
Ernie worked at Mag-Nif in Mentor, Ohio, for more than 12 years until they closed. Currently, he worked at Norman Noble in Highland Heights, Ohio, as QC inspector, he really loved his job.
Ernie had many friends from school and jobs throughout the years. In fact, one of his friends, Matt Cooney, started at Norman Noble when he did.
Ernie was a good and kind person who enjoyed helping others. Anyone who knew Ernie knew this to be true. He also had a great sense of humor.
He liked many sports. His favorite teams were the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed playing video games and had many game systems. He also enjoyed going fishing and riding coasters at Cedar Point.
Ernie is survived by his parents, Russ and Janice House, of Rock Creek, Ohio; and sister, Linda House, of Mentor.
He was preceded in death by his brother Michael; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Margaret (nee Jefferson) Butler, of Chardon; and paternal grandparents, William and MaryAnn (nee Fry) House, of Painesville.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Humane Society or a pet shelter of your choice, in memory of his beloved cat, Fluffy, who he lost in 2020.
