George Ronnie Arambasick

George Ronnie Arambasick, a recent resident of Coastal Pointe Assisted Living in Shallotte N.C., passed away on Feb. 26, 2026, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, S.C., one day after his 82nd birthday.

Ron was born on Feb. 25, 1944, in Kentucky to George and Mary (née Fowler) Arambasick. Shortly thereafter, he moved with his family to the Mahoning Valley in Ohio, where he attended local schools. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he began a long career at Packard Electric in Warren.

Ron spent most of his life in Ohio, living over 50 years in Middlefield, Ohio, and Nelson Township, Ohio. He and his wife JoAnn built a log cabin in Nelson, where they enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Ron especially enjoyed chopping wood, hunting deer and turkey, traveling and anything related to the American West. In 2024, he traveled to Alaska for his 80th birthday, completing visits to all 50 states.

A devout Catholic, Ron often began his mornings with a cup of tea and the Rosary. He valued hard work, faith and the habit of rising early each day. He frequently teased family members who were not up before sunrise, though he was also known for heading to bed shortly after sunset—a routine his children and grandchildren teased him back for.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, JoAnn (née Pixley), in 2015; his brother Wayne Arambasick, in 2021; his son-in-law, Steve Wells, in 2007; and his infant daughter, Rhonda Ann Arambasick, in 1981.

He is survived by his son, Christopher (Liz) Arambasick, of Shallotte, N.C., and their sons, Christopher and Michael; his daughter, Jennifer (Bryan Croteau) Wells, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and their children, Stephanie (Jared) Schiele, Alexandra Wells, Mychal (Kimberly) Croteau and Annie Croteau. Great-grandchildren include Abigail Schiele and Lincoln Croteau.

He also leaves behind his two brothers, Fr. Dennis Arambasick, OFM, of Winsted, Conn., and Ken (Nancy) Arambasick, of Rotonda West, Fla.; and one sister, Pam (James) Pollifrone, of Arlington, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Sly Family Funeral Home in Middlefield on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9:30-11 a.m. A procession will follow to St. Edward Church in Parkman Township, Ohio, where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson.

Family and friends are invited to return to the church hall for a reception following the burial.

Donations can be directed to Pixley Park in Nelson Township or a foodbank of one’s choice.
