Kathy shared a lifelong close bond with her sisters and family, filled with cherished memories of vacations, shopping, gardening and time spent together.

Kathy graduated from West Geauga High School in 1973 before earning her nursing degree from Willoughby-Eastlake School of Practicing Nursing College. She devoted 45 years to nursing and caring for others, beginning her career in the emergency room at MetroHealth before working in local nursing homes and doctors’ offices. She finished her career caring for the nuns at Notre Dame Village, a role that brought her great joy. Kathy’s compassion, wisdom and gentle spirit touched countless lives and she remained a source of comfort, guidance and support to everyone around her.

On Feb. 19, 1977, Kathy married the love of her life, Kenneth “Kenny” Hoar, and together they shared 49 years of marriage built on love, faith, family and adventure. She is now reunited with Kenny, who passed away on Feb. 26, 2026. Together they raised four children, Joel (Lindsey) Hoar, Ryan (Samantha) Hoar, Scott (Aimee) Hoar and Erin (Dan) Detwiler.

Kathy was a proud grandmother to Campbell, Jonathan, Alison-Claire, Liam, Ella, Harper, Frankie, Charlie, Morgan and Daniel, all of whom brought her endless joy.

Kathy and Kenny loved traveling, boating, spontaneous weekend adventures and hosting family gatherings at the family farm. Kathy also enjoyed gardening, crafting and creating beauty in everything she touched.

A woman of deep faith, Kathy was devoted to the Catholic Church and committed to helping those in need through charitable work and acts of kindness. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a published author of “Mama’s Girls.”

Kathy will be deeply missed by her children; grandchildren; sisters, Laura (Tom) Ross, Pattie (Ray) Loomis and Jane (Bill) Heiden; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
