Frank Kovach

Frank Kovach, 90, of Hiram Township, Ohio, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 8, 2026.

He was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Middlefield, Ohio, to the late Frank and Julia (nee Sles) Kovach.

Frank was raised on his family’s dairy farm in Middlefield on state Route 528. It was the first dairy farm in Geauga County that had mechanical milkers. Frank developed his work ethic and love of nature spending the time working on the farm.

He was a proud graduate of Chalker High School, then went on to become a proud member of the U.S. Army.

Frank came home after his service to his country and began his profession as a carpenter, belonging to the local Carpenters Local Union. He then met the love of his life, Arlene, after her sister rented an apartment from him.

After marrying Arlene, the family grew with Arlene’s two daughters, Dorothy and Beth, and then were even more blessed with the birth of their daughter, Frances. Frank started building their family home on Udall, where his family all pitched in with the build, as he was determined to instill his hard work ethic within his three daughters.

Throughout the build, as well as his career, Frank never missed a day of work. However, upon his retirement at the age of 50, he never looked back and enjoyed the time spent with his family.

After retirement, Frank pursued his love of nature by continuing camping and working outdoors. Above all else, his love of spending time with his friends and family never wavered, especially when it came to his grandchildren.

Frank will forever be missed by his daughters, Frances Kovach, Beth (Dale) Pacovsky and Dorothy (Deb) Schroeder; grandchildren, Jacqueline Zajac, Anthony Zajac, Katherine (Jakob) Hites, Christopher (Kristina) Pacovsky, Jessica (Rick) Kovacs, Dale (Alysia) Pacovsky Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; brother, Robert Kovach; sister, Shirley (Byron) Sharbetian; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; dear wife, Arlene (nee Czaplenski) Kovach; and grandson, Brian Pacovsky.

Please join the family for a visitation Thursday, May 14, 2026, 5-7 p.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. Frank will then be taken to Huntsburg Township Cemetery in Huntsburg Township, Ohio, where he will receive Military Honors, then will be lovingly laid to rest next to his beloved, Arlene.
