KIA Memorial Ceremony
May 15, 6 p.m.
A KIA Memorial Dedication Ceremony will be held, rain or shine, at the Geauga County Courthouse on Chardon Square to honor fallen service members from Geauga County.
The ceremony will recognize Staff Sgt. Sean G. Landrus and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher H. Thibodeau, along with all Geauga County service members killed in action from World War I to the present.
The program will include a guest speaker, KIA roll call, wreath-laying and taps. Veterans, Gold Star families and community members are invited.

Spring Drive-It-Yourself Tour
May 16, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Destination Geauga’s 22nd annual self-guided tour will feature 25 participating businesses throughout Geauga County offering discounts, giveaways and samples.
The event concludes with a grand finale at Adam Hall, 11455 Washington St., Auburn Township, featuring refreshments and prize drawings. Participants must be present to win.

Bloom & Browse Market
May 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ohman Family Living at Briar will host Bloom & Browse, a free outdoor green market, at 14820 N. State St., Middlefield.
The event will feature more than 20 local vendors offering flowers, handcrafted goods, artisan breads, specialty coffee, natural skincare and more, along with a food truck and live demonstrations. Vendor booths will include plants, handmade items, specialty foods and garden-related goods.
The market is part of Briar’s community engagement series. Cottage tours of The Cottages at Briar will be available during the event.

Gardening 101 Series Continues
Geauga County Master Gardener Volunteers will continue the free Gardening 101 series at the Patterson Center at the Geauga County Extension Office, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton.
“Working and Maintaining the Garden” will be held May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by “Harvesting and Preserving Your Garden’s Bounty” on May 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Blessing of the Hot Rods

Mayfield Church invites riders, drivers and automotive enthusiasts to a special Blessing of the Hot Rods, held between services, in the west parking lot located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township
The event offers the community an opportunity to come together in celebration of a shared passion for the open road. Participants are encouraged to bring their vehicles as the church offers a blessing for safety, protection and guidance for the upcoming riding season.

Maple Splash Raffle Tickets
The Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club is selling tickets for its annual Maple Splash Raffle, featuring a grand prize of a 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Custom 4WD or a $30,000 cash option.
Additional prizes include equipment, outdoor gear, electronics and cash.
The final early bird drawing is May 27. The main drawing will be held July 11 at the Maple Splash Raffle Festival.

Polka-Style Worship, Picnic and Concert
May 31
The Chardon Polka Band will lead a lively polka-style worship service at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon, beginning with coffee and donuts at 9:30 a.m.
Following the worship service from 10-11 a.m., a free picnic-style lunch will be provided by members of Celebration from 11 a.m. to noon., and the Chardon Polka Band will present a free concert in the sanctuary from 12-1 p.m. Activities for children will be available.
Monetary donations will be accepted during the worship service and concert to benefit Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance based in Painesville.

GCRTA Luncheon
June 2, 11:15 a.m.
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet at the Tanglewood Golf Club, 8745 Tanglewood Drive in Bainbridge Township. Social time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and a salad buffet lunch at noon.
The program will include speakers from the STRS Board and ORTA with updates and discussion.

EAA Pancake Breakfast
June 6, 8 a.m. to noon
EAA Chapter 5 pilots will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at Lake County Executive Airport, 1969 Lost Nation Road, Willoughby.
Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee and drinks. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12; children under 3 are free.
Free Young Eagles airplane rides for ages 8-17, with parental permission, and hands-on youth activities also will be offered.
