Two heated exchanges punctuated the May 22 Geauga County Board of Elections meeting, with disagreements arising over recently changed absentee ballot rules and a board member’s potential conflict of interest in a judicial candidate petition review. The first dispute began as board members reviewed late-arriving ballots. Under previous Ohio law, absentee ballots arriving after Election Day could still be counted if they were postmarked before Election Day and received within a four-day grace period.
