CHS Wind Ensemble to Perform at Severance Hall

The Chardon High School Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Northeast Ohio Band Invitational to be held at Cleveland’s Severance Hall on Jan. 27. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Chardon High School or at the door the day of the concert.

The ensemble, with guest appearance by the CHS Symphonic Band, will perform at 2 p.m.

Several pieces that are to be performed are original works by CHS seniors Andrew Ferris and Aaron Dussing. CHS alumnus Greg Hillis, private music instructor for several members of the band, will also have an original piece performed.

Conducting will be Melissa Lichtler, head of Chardon’s music department, marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, and fifth-grade band and pit orchestra, and Tracy Paroubek, the Chardon Middle School band director.

Kindergarten Registration

To be eligible to attend Chardon kindergarten in the fall of 2013, a child must be five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2013. To schedule a Kindergarten registration appointment, please call the elementary school closest to where you reside: Hambden School, 440-286-7503; Maple School, 440-285-4065; Munson School, 440-286-5901; or Park School, 440-285-4067.

Registration dates are as follows:

Hambden: Feb. 12, 4:30-8 p.m.; and Feb. 20, 9 a.m. to noon and 4:30-8 p.m.

Maple: Feb. 12 and 20, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Munson: Feb. 12, 8-11 a.m. and 4:30-8 p.m.; and Feb. 20, 4:30-8 p.m.

Park: Feb. 11, 9 a.m. to noon; Feb. 12 and 20, 4:30-7:45 p.m.

Additionally, there will be a Kindergarten Information Night for parents on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school Large Group Instruction Room (LGIR). Please share this information with any friends or neighbors who may have a child starting kindergarten this fall.

Night at the Races

Maple PTO will once again be hosting its annual Night at the Races fundraiser to support the continuous improvement efforts at Maple Elementary. This year’s event will be held on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s School cafeteria. Doors open 15 minutes before the event.

Cost is $25 per person and includes catered dinner, beer/non-alcoholic drinks and dessert.

It will be a fun-filled evening of horse race betting, raffles and silent auction bidding. Please make checks payable to “Maple Elementary PTO.”
