Best Musical goes to
Kenston’s Center Stage was honored by the Geauga Council for Arts and Culture at the 11th annual Ovation Awards for area high school musicals. The format for this year is different from years past. Rather than focus on competition between area schools where the programs are widely disparate in budget, facilities and available students, the program this year focused on honoring “the best” in each school’s production. Area directors agreed to see two other school’s shows and recognized the best elements in acting, music, technical theater and a category of their choosing.
“Hello, Dolly!” was honored with Outstanding Acting Awards to Austin Frank, Jacob Enders and Eric Poe. An Outstanding Music Award went to Kenston’s pit orchestra for its accompaniment. For lighting, an Outstanding Technical Award was given to David Henry and the lighting crew. Finally, the directors gave an Outstanding Vocal Award to Alexis Taylor and the entire chorus.
2013-2014 Class Officers

eXpressions
The Kenston High School Math Club recently took part in the Cleveland Clinic eXpressions Math Competition. The innovative program engages high school math students in cross-curricular exploration. Through peer-to-peer learning, students discover and demonstrate how mathematics plays a key role in scientific research projects and the artwork and literary works inspired by their projects.
The team of Seth Blankenship, Cara Fagerholm and Grant Levy earned a first place ribbon and $100 each for their submission.
