The Foreigner At GLTG

Larry Shues The Foreigner, playing at the Geauga Theater, is set in a rural lodge in Georgia. The play centers on Charlie, a sullen dejected man who is trying to avoid the need for unwanted conversation by pretending to not speak English. The ploy does not work, as ex-debutant Catherine Simms decides to tell Charlie all of her most personal and darkest secrets.

Meanwhile, Catherine’s intellectually challenged younger brother, Ellard, takes it upon himself to “teach” Charlie some English. Other colorful characters add their own antics to create a very funny evening of theater.

Directed by Jack Warren, the show runs through March 24. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8 p.m. There will be two Sunday matinees March 17 and 24 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, and $8 for youth 10 and under.

The historic Geauga Theater is located at 101 Water St. in Chardon. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.geaugatheater.org or call the box office at 440-286-2255.
