Open House At Geauga Theater
The Geauga Lyric Theater Guild will be having its annual open house, with free theater tours, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27 during the Maple Festival.
Enjoy a behind the scenes look at the historic theater and learn about upcoming events and classes in the arts for adults and youth. See the CATS set up close and maybe sneak a peek of a special feline or two.

Bullies Anonymous at GLTG
Visitors to the annual Maple Festival in Chardon are invited to enjoy a complimentary performance of Bullies Anonymous, a mini musical with a mighty message, at the Geauga Theater located at 101 Water St. in Chardon.
The cast of 23 youth, ages 11 to 16, will be spreading the important message about this pressing social issue through uplifting songs and humorous dialogue. Performances are April 26 at 7 p.m. and April 28 at 1 p.m.
Sponsored by the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s educational division with support from the Chardon Community Action Team (CCTA), the group will hand out special door prizes to the first 50 youth each day. Lobby displays and information for parents will be available as well.
There is no admission or reservations needed; however, donations are accepted and appreciated.

May GANG Program Features Rug Hooking Demonstration
On May 21, Beth Croup of Cross Creek Farm Rug Hooking Studio will demonstrate the art of rug hooking and share examples of her work, as the guest of the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG). This educational program, which is free and open to the general public, will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center St. in Chardon. No reservations are necessary.
Croup has been teaching rug making techniques since 2001 and is well-versed on the history of her craft. She has demonstrated rug making at various venues in Northeast Ohio, including the Geauga County Fairgrounds and the Geauga County Historical Society.
Croup is the founder of the Cross Creek Hooking School, now known as the Ohio Rug School, which convenes at Punderson Manor. She is also a member of the Western Reserve Rug Hooking Guild. The Cross Creek Farm Studio, which offers rug making supplies and instruction, is co-owned by Croup with her husband Jim and is located in Claridon.
The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County. For more information, call Joanne Durante at 440-729-6481.
Tea Party Fundraiser for GLTG
Through The Looking Glass tea party, a fundraiser for Geauga Lyric Theater Guild, will be held May 4 at 2 p.m. at Rosepointe Cottage Tea Room in Chardon.
Event features three courses of finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones with clotted creams and jam and an assortment of freshly brewed tea. There will be a ” Mad Hatter” hat contest and gift basket raffles.
Cost is $30 per person. Reservations are limited; deadline is April 30.

WRJSL Red Stocking Revue
Western Reserve Junior Service League is holding Yankee Doodle Salute Follies at 7 p.m. May 3 and 4 at Harvey High School, 200 W. Walnut Ave. in Painesville. Under the direction of Tina Burgett-Krause, the show is packed with comedy, singing and dancing.
Tickets are $15 general admission and $35 reserved seating. Donate toiletries for the troops and receive one free Chinese raffle ticket.

“CATS” Kids Event At GLTG
In coordination with the CATS musical production now playing at Geauga Theater, there will be a “CATS” kids event on April 27 beginning at 11 a.m. Children will have their hair done in the style of a cat at Marci’s Hair on the Square, get cat make-up, sip milk, eat cookies, learn to dance like a cat, plus meet the cast of CATS on stage. There is also a chance to be part of the Maple Festival parade.
Cost is $12 per child and reservations are required. Call 440-285-7701 for more information about this event or to learn about how you can adopt a CATS character, get a plush cat and a certificate and visit your adopted “cat” on stage, all while providing support for the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild.
Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s presents Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS, sponsored by Gem Electric, directed and choreographed by Lisa-Marie French, by special arrangement with Rodgers & Hammerstein, runs May 3-12. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for youth 12 and under.
